Burgess can cover very well for his size. His football smarts, height, length and ability to get good drops make him an underrated mid-round prospect. His height can be a negative when it comes to leverage in the box vs. the run. But seeing as coverage ILBers are one of the Pats biggest needs, Burgess may be a sleeper for the Pats. Burgess could make an intriguing 3-4 WILL.

Prescott Burgess was a Safety who just never stopped growing , so they moved him to LB.

He still has the skill of a Safety in a LBs body. Now he wasn't an All American Safety but he is is a fairly good LB, and he was not a slouch as a S, either. A fair Safety's coverage skills, has to rank him near the top of the LBs for pass coverage, especially since the LBs take on the slower guys like FBs, and TEs.

He has the look of a Roman Phifer.

I had him pegged in the same sort of role as Phifer (just like AzPatsFan), he is not an experienced ILB like Harris but shows versatility (OLB, coverage LB). If drafted they would not expect him to start, STs, learn system and maybe some situational snaps. I think he is worth serious consideration.

Burgess is the perfect player for a Cover 2 OLB. I hope that Atlanta or Tampa gets him, because I don't want to see him in a Colts uniform.

underachiver. hes got all the tools..needs to get it together though. some great coaching can make this kid a suprise player

do you guys think he's a first rounder or second or lower?

En dof second at most. #56 would be a good place. I think he is gone by last third of third round, so he won't fall to our third, but a trade up to mid third could nab him too.

But that's speculation, as I haven't really seen what combine results will say.

heres what i said here after the notre dame game:

Prescott Burgess:
outside linebacker
6'3", 246 lbs, senior
could be a weakside linebacker, or inside linebacker
frankly i just like the way this guy plays the game
great athlete
seems to have that extra burst
had two interceptions today, one returned for a td, the other returned to the five i believe

i def agree with you guys who are comparing him to phifer
i think hed be a great role player on this team

At this point, based on everything I am reading, I would be happy with any member of the Michigan LB corps.

Seems to me this guy whiffed on a couple of tackles in the OSU game. Doesn't BB value tackling in a defensive player???
