Johnson vs Lloyd that is.

Maybe it was just me (somebody tell me what you saw) but everytime I saw Johnson on a running play; you could see him dogging his route and clueing in the DB (rest of D too?).
And then to top that off; I dont think I saw him throw a single block on a run that wasnt actually an uncalled hold.

I was very excited about Lloyd acquisition, somewhat disappointed about his productivity and YAC not being there; but at least he is a COMPLETE PLAYER and he GIVES 100%. I have been impressed all season by his run blocking and committment even when he doesnt get the ball (clearing out others routes; blocking after their catch etc)

This game did a bit more of a revealing about him and his role for Pats - and I would have to say; even if he isnt as tall or as fast as Johnson; I would rather have him for THOSE INTANGIBLES than a prima donna player who looks like he quits out there.

He is a total player.

I thought the same thing. Usually after 3 steps you could tell whether it was a run or pass. He didn't appear too interested in selling the pass on run plays.

Is this a joke?

Andre Jonson a prima donna?......the hard working guy that catches balls short, intermediate, long and runs over defenders making plays. Chad Johnson maybe??? I'm confused,,,

i did not see any of that he had alot of big blocks in the running game and was running all he's routs give the pats CB's there do they played great...the guy has averaged over 1000 per season in he's career and half of that is with david carr as he's QB if the guy was a pat you would love him and he would be leading the NFL in yards and TD's right now with Brady as he's QB

Are people really downgrading Andre Johnson because, as an outside receiver who was completely out of the play, he didn't run block against the CB he was dragging down the field with him?

Johnson was one of the few Texans who actually had a decent game tonight. Seems like the wrong guy to single out.

Note: I pointedly asked "WAS IT JUST ME?". Thanks, I'll count you as saying yes. ;)

And for the record, the plays I saw that particularly drew my attention; he DIDN' T DRAG DOWN the field anybody if he starts jogging at 3 yards after the line of scrimmage.

I don't watch Houston's games and have no clue how he has amassed his #s this season. All I saw of him before today was highlight clips. It could be prima donna play or it could be all out play. You seem to think the latter. All I can go by is what i saw today and he appeared to not go all out to me.

[Note that doesnt mean I think Lloyd is more talented, just working harder. And I still hate his flop after the catch for no YAC and slides out of bounds when we are running out the clock.]

If that's your conclusion I suggest watching more tapes of Andre Johnson and the Texans. He's the opposite of a Prima Donna receiver.

People would blame moss on this as well.

I think it comes down to this:
An outside receiver can only do so many sprints at full speed, so why waste one on a running play.
I wouldn't call it laziness, but rather just being efficient -- using your energy when it matters most.
It could mess with the play action though, but my guess is the safety looks at the qb/rb to decide if he's going to come in and not at the outside receiver

Maybe the mods can change the thread title to

Andre Johnson= Dog Faker

:D

Let's not forget the work he put in on Cortland Finnegan's stupid face.

I was saying during the game that I never saw such a "great WR" but in such a bad effort as Johnson did last night. He didnt even try

Time for the texans to cut bait and trade for Tiquan Underwood.

The thing with Johnson is the "great WR" label. He was great at one time but now he is just a very solid professional that happens to be the best receiver on his team. Dennard hung with him. Talib hung with him. That tells me everything. Our guys aren't the fastest CBs in the league yet they owned the night last night. AJ just isn't that explosive anymore.

Please, I'd take Andre on my team anyday. I do think the end is near for him though he's got alot of wear on him, and not sure how much longer those knees will hold up. But what a career, should easily make the top 20 in all time recieving yards, maybe top 10 if the knees do hold up.

He's still a great WR. 1200 yards with 3 games to go on the year.

While Shaub is a fine QB, just imagine if he had someone like Brady throwing him the ball or even the Roethlisberger/Eli tier.
