Despite what happened, I would not want to travel on the road to play Houston. Watt was great, but it was more than that -- the pocket was collapsing faster than I can remember. Brady looked out of sync for longer than usual at times.

Well, that was easy!

Just a beat down on so many levels.

Congratulations.

I'm sorry we couldn't give you a better game.

I think I speak for many here when I say I enjoyed having you here.

You are a knowledgeable and gracious poster. The Texans are still a team that I hope we don't have to face again, especially on the road.

So go ahead and take a couple of days and lick your wounds and get the bad taste out of your system and then come on back; there's still a lot of gr8 football to be played and discussed.

Good luck to the Texans. If the Pats don't win it I'd be happy to see your team with the Lombardi.

You, do, indeed.

It was a pleasure, Brother Texan. Bone Fortuna!!

Huston even though they lost in the short run won. It takes games like this to mold a SB contender. The next time the texans play a big game on a big stage they won't be as aw struck? It will be more familiar and they will play more like the talented team they are.

That's what they said after the GB game when Rodgers torched them.

Not to say they aren't a good team but it's happened before, they don't play well in prime time and for some reason Schaub is AWFUL in night games.

I hope there are some folks in your local media who will point out to Houston fans that this wasn't as much a fail by your team as much as it was Belichick at his best. His Defensive Game Plan was sheer genius, taking away the run and play action, daring Schaub to beat him one on one and then blitzing Mayo every other play. Not for nothing has Canton already enshrined several of his D game plans.

A "coming of age" game can be a loss as much as it is a win.

5) I really don't want to play these guys again...bad memories from a few years back of our December blowout of the Jets and what happened in the playoffs.

... in Gronk and Hernandez we trust. That was their rookie year.

Yes. I definitely do not want to play these guys again, in either venue.

I think our D stepped up and at times ball didnt bounce the texans way and it got out of hand. Your D is the toughest ones we have faced this yr.

I think the Texans are gonna be just fine despite how bad it looked on the final scoreboard. The Patriots got a lotta breaks, good bounces and a few questionable calls that were huge momentum swings.

I would really rather not meet them again in the "real" season in their place. But we'll see what transpires soon enough.

J.J. Watt was the guys I wanted BB to trade down a bit for and draft a few years ago. What an impressive D Beast!

It was a game all Pats fans will feel good about for a long time. Brady was simply magnificent tonight! The defense really came up big tonight and I am very, very VERY encouraged with that!!!!!!!

Excuse me?

1. Matt Patricia is our DC.

2. I thought it had been conclusively proven that BB was no longer a member of the "defensive genius" club, was passé, outmoded, and out of touch with how to defend the modern passing game. Plus he doesn't blitz or play man - he just plays BBDB with a soft zone defense.

So whose game plan was it? :D

Or perhaps - just perhaps - with the right players BB is now free to do some things that he hadn't been free to do before. Hmm ... no, it must have been someone else's gameplan.

Watt is just a beast. Chance it is from PEDs? Does anyone get that much better in one season? I hope it isn't, I love watching him when it isn't us.

How do you think he compares to Richard Seymour in his prime?

Watt hasn't done it for as long as Seymour did, and Seymour was asked to 2-gap more, rather than play a penetrating role. But I haven't seen anyone as explosive as Watt with that kind of size and disruptive capability since Bruce Smith, as I mentioned above. If Watt can sustain that level of play, he'll be in elite company.

Watt was the 11th pick of the first round in 2011...I'm pretty happy BB didn't draft down to try to get him....

same as the rest of the league, so 90% imo

Thanks for jogging my memory on that draft. I couldn't recall where exactly Watt was taken but I did recall it was in the first round teens but that it was closer to 17, 18. 19...... somewhere in there. 11 was a lot lower than BB is inclined to go in the first. Thanks, Joker

JJ Watt is the best defensive end I've seen since Bruce Smith, and he may end up being better than Smith. Unreal.

Bull spit JJ Watt wasn't even the best DL on the field today! Vince Wilfork was dominant today and I will take him over JJ everyday and especially Sunday.

VW's a tackle, not an end. Both guys are dominant, so why get into a pissing match when they don't even play the same position? Though you might want to consider the opinion of one Bill Belichick:

Of course, [Watt]’s the best defensive player in the league. So yeah, we definitely planned for him.

I have to say, I really like the Houston team. If the Pats lose at some point, I'll be rooting for them. They are just solid professionals through and through - no blame or excuses, no trash talking, no nonsense. Great balance, great play action. Love Watt, want Barwin, love Foster, love Johnson, and a host of others. It's a team I'd be proud to call my own any day. The score doesn't reflect the battle - as Patsylicious pointed out, a few bounces and/or plays early on and the game could have changed dramatically. I have no less respect for the Texans after this game than before, or if they had won.

Fixed for accuracy. ;)

Maybe you're thinking of Ryan Kerrigan (who went one slot before Solder)?
