Perhaps a sign that the running game may figure prominently in this game. Bolden and Ridley gives the Pats 2 big backs to pound at the Texans' DL and wear them down.

Wonder if he'll get in on the return game.

ANd for those (*like me) who kind of lost track of the whole roster thing:

Mike Reiss ‏@MikeReiss
Patriots did not need to make a corresponding roster move by activating RB Brandon Bolden. They had an open spot.

I also wonder if they may work Vereen into some of Edelman's role. Not as a deep WR, of course, but the swing passes, screens, stretch runs, etc, Vereen could probably pick some of that up.

Gotta pound that rock. He and the Riddler. Wait til Gronk gets back from injury. This offense is loaded with contributors.

I have suggested this before. It makes tremendous sense to me, so obviously they won't do it.

This is good. He can take som power run touches from Ridley keeping him fresch for the play offs. Bolden played good before his suspension and I think it's gonna take a game or two to get back to that shape after not being allowed to practice with the team during the suspension. Good to get him back in shape for the play offs.

It may have been two months ago and against the Bills, but I liked what I saw from him, ALOT. :rocker:

That is huge news IMO. Even if we aren't planning to use him alot today (which I hope we are) at least his knee is better.

EDIT: for some reason I read that as he is active for this game (not sure if the inactives were released yet) so still dunno about the knee. I'm assuming he wouldn't have been activated today specifically if he wasn't ready to go?

I'll be surprised if we see him carry more than twice or so....or at all.

I think he's in there for Ridley insurance.

But I'd love to be wrong.

I'd actually like to see Vereen and Woodhead on the field at the same time on some 3rd downs when we go into the spread.

Woodhead, Vereen and Welker will create some serious matchup issues.

He's active tonight:

Mike Reiss ‏@MikeReiss
Patriots inactives: OL N. McDonald; OL M. Zusevics, TE R. Gronkowski, DE J. Bequette, DL R. Brace, DB D. Martin, FB J. Develin.

this is good, because Edelman's a bigger loss than people realize.

Francis over Brace... I hope Ron is saving his money.

Bolden gives us a bowling ball if we get close to the goal line and need to punch it in.

Vereen, as others have said, might show up really well in punt return duties. He also, it seems to me, would/will make an excellent replacement for Kevin Faulk's duties. Screens, flares, and right over the top stuff that Faulk did so darned well.

Very nice. And McDonald being inactive must bode well for Mankins condition
