Man it must suck to always be winning. Play offs are a given. Nothing to worry about...

except how flatulent your head coach is before the game.

Must be nice.

Nice doesn't even come close to describing how it feels to be a Pats fan these days.

That's what i was going to post. His interviews before the SB were supposed to convince us that we finally had NYG figured out.

Proper execution by the players on the field would have helped, starting with the 1st offensive series and ending with the last offensive and defensive series..

:bricks:

It's about to get worse.

Maybe...

Look, we take a lot from The Hoodie's mood. If he's cranky, practice hasn't gone well. If he's "chatty" it's usually because the game plan is installed and he's confident that he and his staff have done their jobs. Whether or not they win is irrelevant on Friday. He's got them ready, and it's up to them to perform.

One thing to consider perhaps is that Bill relishes these late season games, these big tests. In reality they don't mean much beyond seeding. The Pats are locked in as a division winner. He can go out there without the stresses of getting into the playoffs and just coach a big game late in the year. I would guess he loves a big game like this as much as the fans do.

Ehhhhh, the last time he was like this was the Superbowl...

Honestly, is there some kind of point system for who can come in and be the first Debbie Downer in a thread?

I don't k ow. Isn't this what we were told before the last Super Bowl? And mostly I say this to watch as Schmessy slowly loses his sanity and gestures to earlier post so vigorously that he spontaneously combusts. ;)

:bricks:

It's about to get worse.

Inevitably, it will.

WHEN is the question.

In the meantime, we are incredibly fortunate to be experiencing this. When I was a kid in the early 70's, the Patriots were looked at as a minor league team.

Ugh......Another one who didn't read posts #10 and #13.

Ugh your face buddy lol Seriously though if preparations go that well we usually see the results on the field. Offense had 3 good drives all game and defense left much to be desired. Poorly timed penalties (basic infractions too like offsides - at least 2 of which were extremely costly, one bringing back a 3rd down stop and one a fumble recovery), drops, ST ourplayed pretty thoroughly, critical error by Brady early on. It wasn't a good performance and the Giants were hot but it's not like we're facing a juggernaut, they were 9-7 for a reason.

I wouldn't read much of anything from a BB pressor good or bad

William Belichick is a Football Genius.

He is not a Fortune Teller.

There are two teams on the field at all times.

To get to that SB, that "9-7 team" beat three straight playoff teams in their OWN buildings including the 13-3 Niners and a COMPLETE DESTRUCTION of the 15-1 DEFENDING CHAMPIONS.

You're right about the Giants not being a juggernaut. That was a FREAKING STEAMROLLER.

The Patriots were as well-prepared as they could be with the physically lame Mankins and Gronkowski. The Pats offense played that game 9 against 11.

And they almost won.

They did well with what they had BECAUSE they had a great week of preparation. That's all a coach can demand. There was good reason for BB to be chipper at the end of that week. His team optimized its time.

I have to disagree with you on this one point. Are we pretending that SF game didn't play out the way it did? The Giants O was hot garbage and was gifted two punt return fumbles.

William also has a good poker face. Not saying he's displaying it here but just that I wouldn't put a whole lot into it. You're overrating the Giants last year, no way were they a 'steamroller'. I give them credit for the win at Lambeau (although one could argue the Packers were way outta sync that game when it was well documented Rodgers hadn't played a meaningful game in 3 weeks. Lots of drops/mistimings that you can't all accredit to the Giants). But other than that win what did they do. Beat teams like the Jets and Cowboys late in the year to stumble into the playoffs at 9-7. Beat mediocre ATL at home, who's a perennial playoff choker, that's essentially a bye. And they got very lucky @ SF - 2 muffs by their PR, Eli had multiple should be INT's that were dropped, and an early whistle bailed them out of a fumble by Bradshaw that also could have ended it.

C'MON, MAN! :)

The Niners defense averaged giving up 14.31 points during the season. The story of last year was how many body bags opposing team's medical staff had to bring to each game when facing that defense.

You're going to complain about the Giants hanging 20 on them in a monsoon 3,000 miles away on the road???????????????????

So, in the post season, by beating in 4 consecutive games:

1) a 10-6 team on the road
2) a 15-1 team on the road
3) a 14-3 team on the road
4) a 15-3 team in the Super Bowl

The Giants were merely "lucky" or "overrated"?

Ok, got it.

SF gave away that game ... literally. And the Giants needed a last-minute drive to win the SB.

You called them a steamroller. They weren't. That's all I'm sayin'.

The 10-6 team was at home. And I didn't say the run was lucky, all I said was the game @ SF was very very lucky and it was. Overall, they were far from a 'steamroller'. A steamroller is the 2004 Patriots who destroyed 2 very good AFC teams and beat a very good Eagles team in a close one but no fluky stuff like the Gmen enjoyed in that 49er game.

While I agree the Pats 2004 playoff run is probably the most impressive in history, I'm going to have to agree to disagree with you about the Giants 2011.

Apples to apples in the same year's playoff's, the Giants pre-SB playoff run was FAR more impressive than the Patriots destroying a QB who throws like a soccer player and a close win in a game at home that OUTFLUKES any FLUKEY definition you want to affix to the NY-SF game.

I never said our run was better, I've always conceded the Giants were the better team last year and they earned it. IMO it's just really not saying much because we had a ton of issues last year further compounded by Gronk's injury, just an amazing job by BB/Brady to get there. This year I wouldn't mind another shot at them with a healthy Gronk and improvement elsewhere.
