Who in your opinion was the Best overall player in 2006 and who was the worst?

Make your selection based on being primarily a starter on the team in most or all games played this year.

I pick Ty Warren as BEST overall player,Asante Samuel was a very close second,Warren stood his ground in the line and was a force to be reckoned with,a HUGE part of the reason we allowed 2nd fewest points this year.

I pick Matt Light as worst overall player,It was really tough to pick the worst player overall but Matt was burned more on his side of the ball than any O-Lineman and many of those defenders that burned him made big game changing plays like blind side sacks and fumbles from Brady,Not counting the playoffs this year in which he improved,he was burned on many an occasion when it came to playing good pass rushing teams this year...He needs some good competition in training camp to make this year a forgettable one and push him to become a more solid player.

Its much harder to pick the worst player than best because we have a very good team but I am interested to hear your opinions.

Ill agree that Warren was the best Patriot. He had noticeable improvements this year, and really anchored the line.

For worst, I'm gonna go ahead and say Watson. He was sloppy all year, injured or not. His routes were worse, and his hands were just awful. I know two plays in the first Colts game he had balls right to him that he tipped and they got intercepted. As the season was coming to a close, I was more scared than happy when Tom threw to Watson. Too many tipped balls/fumbles/drops etc. This isn't the same Watson that ran down Bailey in January of 06. He needs to make huge improvements for 07.

Best: Green, Mankins

Worst: Cassell - his stats were pathetic

Kazcur was beaten a lot too and he wasnt the run blocker Light was so i would give worst to Kazcur

Best: Faulk/Warren/Samuel
Worst: Bruschi(it hurts)/Kazcur/Banta Cain

i think Hawkins could of been 1 of the worst starters .. end of season he didnt look so good getting outrun and thinking a lot but he wasnt the real weak link.

you know the explanations for WArren-Samuel..for Faulk: he did it all this year, ran, blocked, caught, returned. He had a great year imo.

Bruschi cant hold down the strongside..its hard for me to call him a weak link b.c he is BRUUUUUUUUUU but its near the end of his time unforunatley.

Best: Warren - he seemed to be the most dependable and consistent guy on the team this year

Worst: Watson - did not play up to his potential this year but I hope he bounces back next year because he still has rare strength, size and speed for his position.

not playing up to potential doesnt mean worst..theres a lot worst than Watson. 2nd in receiving while missing few games. Brady didnt play up to potential..neither did the OL nor Hobbs or seymour

he was doubled a lot of the time anyway..i agree he hasnt completely matured as a player but worst of 06? not even close

Best: Many many people I will only really use starters or close to starters, chosing a special teamer for example would be lame. Warren was the best defensive player.

Corey DillonHe is my favorite Pats player on offense and he only did get 800 rushing yards but he played just as hard as I expected him to play. For one recieving or rushing he had a bunch of plays including postseason that he ripped off for huge gains and he scored a career high 13 TDs. Busted us out of the Lions game with 3 TD's and had multiple 2 TD games.

Worst: I have to agree withWatson. He got plenty of catches and such but he made so much lousy mistakes that really irritated me. He seems to fumble a lot, sometimes he just played really sloppy.

In the middle with: There are a few player who I honestly didnt think were great but werent bad. Maroney is one of them. For some reason he seemed somewhat inconsistent, sometimes he would have a really good game and the next game he would get shut down. There is no doubting his talents but I just hope he can be more consistent in achieving games with 4 YPC or 50+ yards.

I pick Matt Light as worst overall player.

He only had a couple bad games. Towards the latter part of the season it seemed he was starting to get back to form. I think we knew going into the season it was going to take him time to get back to where he was.

Best: Warren, with Asante a close second

Biggest Surprise Player: Gaffney

Worst: Eugene Wilson (what a stiff he's been the past couple of years)

Ok, Gaffney had a great postseason. He did nothing in the regular season to note.

If Wilson played more than more than...4 games, then I could make a decision about him. He wasnt playing amazing but I only really remember him playing pretty bad in the Jets game but there were loads of people who played bad that day. In 2005 you cant say he had any decent support in the secondary, the whole defense was god awful until the end of that season. And the previous years Wilson was pretty darn good.

My biggests suprise player was Asante Samuel. He was playing well in the end of the 2005 season but I never ever ever ever would have expected him to get 10 INT's the next season.

Wilson was playing pretty well till he got hurt..

Isn't it all about stepping up when it matters most? That's what Gaffney did.

Wilson didn't show anything over the first quarter of the season that showed he had improved from last year, even with Harrison back.

8 tackles
7 tackles
4 tackles
5 tackles

in the games hes played

the pass D allowed 164 yards passing.. week 1
week 2: allowed 305 yards passing but remember the Cotchery 71 yards..then a few big plays by Coles that werent deep..just jukes and crap

week 3: Sanders missed that tackle on the Walker 80+ yarder and thats when Wilson got hurt right?

Wilson actually played well and im gonna look over film if i get a chance for the fun of it

Wilson played four games. Only 1 I can remember that he played pretty bad in due to bad tackling if memory serves me right which everyone was tackling bad that day. He played the Bills game with a bad hamstring and got injured later in it I believe but he made a terrific hussle play running down Mgahee and saving a TD. As for bad first quarters of the season you can say the very same about Brady and quite a few others. I like Hawkins but I'd rather have Wilson starting over him.

I'm sick of this myth about Light. People need to lay off the guy.

Thank you!

Sanders completely blew the coverage on Walker's TD bomb. In the Broncos game, Wilson problably made the only good defensive play of the game when he nailed one of the Broncos WR's when they caught the ball. They fumbled it but it was ruled incomplete. And just about every call the zebras make these days are controversial.

Like I said he made one of the better plays in the second Bills game when he ran down Mgahee with a hurt hamstring.

Yes he and Chad Scott were "responsible" for Cotchery's freak TD. But it was simply a freak TD, not Wilson's fault. The only noticable bad game was again the Jets game when he was missing some tackles.

see Safety is a very hard position to play when your not familiar with people like last year and u cant communicate. this year i thoguht Wilson was going to bounce back. remember hes the 1 who prevented a Td on the McGahee shovel pass that went 60 some yards. he ran him down..saved us in way.

Cotchery play you cant really blame anyone..its hard to tell when a guys on top of u and definatley not Wilsons fault..if anyone is the blame its Scott but Wilson did let the pass go a little over him as he was playing undeath and scott over top

actually Wilson saved us twice against Bills..made the tackle

i mentioned the 2nd game but first 1 on the McGahee screen where he went across and if he beat Wilson..it was likely a TD or 10 more yards at very least. Eugene got him
