Iam not sure they are the best especially with the health of their players and the defense. And power rankings vary everywhere e.g.

Broncos, Texans Tied Atop Our Quality Stats Power Rankings

Having Denver #1 is just ridiculous. Let's see:

  • same record
  • Denver on a 7-game winning streak; NE on a 6-game streak
  • NE scoring 7 points more/game; Denver giving up only 1.4 less points/game
  • NE won the head-to-head convincingly
It's just silly.

The AP Pro32 (same format as College ranking) has Pats tied with Falcons for #2 behind Texans

Denver has beat 2-10 Kansas City, 3-9 Oakland, 3-9 Carolina, and 4-8 San Diego twice. 5 of their 9 wins have come against teams with 4 wins or less. The other 3 have come against teams with records of 5-7, 6-6, 7-5 and 7-5. No wins over really strong teams. The Pats have been criticized for their schedule, but Denver's schedule has been much, much weaker, not to mention the head-to-head loss to the Pats.

I'm not buying into the Denver hype.

I still think we take them even if we have to go there for the playoffs.

Peyton is still throwing a lot of picks, and lets face it. while the Jets, dolphins and bills have been bad, the chiefs, chargers and raiders have been darn awful.

To pile onto Denver - I posted it in another thread, but they've been outscored 89-32 in the first three quarters of their only three difficult games. (Texans, Falcons, Patriots).

I'm guessing the Ravens, who are depleted, banged-up and not playing their best, still manage to beat them next week.

Though I will say they show up as #2 in DVOA behind us in FootballOutsiders, which always does pretty well at measuring real efficiency. They have the #5 defense and #2 offense. We have the #1 offense by a hefty margin. We have the #18 defense.

None of the NFL teams seem dominant on both O and D right now, we can say our team is the best if our D can play well against QBs like Eli,Rodgers ppl who can throw the ball deep.

Believe me the moment you see a down field throw like the one Russell wilson had against us no one here will say we are the best. Its just that our D hasnt really been test in a while

The Pats have a dynamic offense (pick your poison) and an opportunistic defense, but haven't fielded their best team(personnel-wise) yet. i just hope they get healthy and stay healthy for the post season...power ranking be darned

I find the Falcons over the Pats more ridiculous than the Broncos at #1. Easiest schedule in the league this year by quite a bit. Do the Falcons scare anyone?

Sagarin has the Pats #1 ahead of Houston, San Fran and Denver.
