so with all this ted johnson talk (and the fact that i have a horrible headache right now) i felt like seeing who else in here suffers from post-concussion syndrome

i suffered from my first concussion about eight yrs ago in hs football, then another mild one the next yr, had to sit out a whole yr with bulging discs in my neck
last summer i re-injured my neck by working out too hard, and ended up in the er twice
not a day goes by that i dont feel pain in my neck
today is prob my worst headache in the last few months
i usually get a headache once a week or so

its a terrible thing and i really hope tj is ok

just wanted to hear some other ppls stories as to post-concussion syndrome, and share a tiny bit of mine

That wasn't a concussion, it was an alcahol induced blackout. Believe me, I know. I'm sittin' right next to ya in that boat, looking for oars,

I've had several concussions in my life, and I suffer no ill effects. Just ask any one of the voices in my head.;)

Seriously, so far, so good. Got the first at 12, the next at 14, both from being hit in the head from a line drive in a game of pick up baseball. I was pitching to my own team mate from like 10' away. Served up a couple of meatballs, and the next thing I know Im in an ambulance. Got one in HS too, like you, then got another about a decade ago in a car accident. Split my forehead wide open on the door jamb near the windshield. Icky stuff everywhere.

No unusual headaches or mood swings. And my homicidal tendancies aren't near as bad as they've been....

I've been suffering post-concussion syndrome since after January 21st :bricks:

I get them from reading ban nem posts.

I never had a concussion, but have a good friend who works in a school for high school kids with brain injuries. It's very sad, especially because many of these kids will never be able to recover. TJ did a great service by overcoming enough of his depression to bring the matter to the Globe. (I heard the story was also on the front page of the New York Times.) I think those who look on McMullen's article as an attack on BB are completely missing the point. It's no secret that all teams demand an enormous amount even from their injured players, but what has been in secret is the price that those players may have to pay. Thanks to people like TJ (and in small way, you too, patsfan55), we're all a little wiser.

ive had 3 in my life...first i fell off my bike when i was about 5... the next one was playing hockey jr year of highschool. Those who were relatively mild... the bad one came last year playing lacrosse against Gettysburg University.
I play attack (equivelent of a forward in hockey or a striker/forward in soccer) and the defense got the ball and was running up the feild...im pretty small for college lacrosse (170-75 pounds) but i dont thin kthat had much to do it, i ran fullspeed and checked the defensemen, but at the same time my teamate was checking him, we both hit him and our heads collided. My neck bent sideways sort of and honestly dont remember the rest....i remember trying to walk into the lockeroom and not being able to find the right door...then being back in my dorm room.
my teamate actually got one too and he was my roomate so we sat in our room together trying to play a video game but it just wasnt working. My girlfriend said she thought i wasnt going to be the same after because i was talking so weird...anyways... the whole experience was really scary...i suggest anyone who has kids that are playing contact sports invess in one of these new mouthguards that are concussion preventive...the pats all use them now..

btw. after watching the tape of that game we knocked the other guy out of the game too, it was quite a hit. but we payed the price
