The NY Jets: The gift that keeps on gifting.... :D

Mark Sanchez named New York Jets starter - NFL.com

Mark Sanchez will start at quarterback Sunday for the New York Jets against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team announced Wednesday morning.

Sanchez was benched last Sunday in favor of Greg McElroy, who threw a touchdown pass in the Jets' 7-6 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

The Jets' third quarterback, Tim Tebow, is recovering from broken ribs.

Maybe the Rats just decided that the higher draft pick is more important now and Mark Sanchez gives them the best chance to lose.

:confused2:

Please, please please let the Jets-Jags game be televised here Sunday. Should be epic as The Sanchize battles one of the NFL's true powerhouses. You just KNOW the pick will come. You KNOW it!

Rex is putting his job on the line. Woody wanted to start McElroy. Tannenbaum and Sparano wanted to stick with Sanchez...

McElroy may not be a franchise QB. But he is a game manager which is all that team needed Mark to be. He simply lacked the grey matter and temperement to be that. McElroy is a cool customer and so cerebral he likely scares the piss out of Sparano and Rex...

This is all about money and ego and the two guys who sold Woody a bill of goods. If the tailspin continues under what will now be almost unbearable pressure...Woody could well blow the whole thing up.

I already bought tickets for this game. Since our game is on Monday night, I figured I'd go to jeer the Jesters. Should I wear my Pats jersey?

Better yet, Sanchez may play just well enough to keep his job yet another week. The Jets may even beat Jacksonville. Then they'll be 6-7 and start talking playoffs again. Rex will start to get his swagger back. He'll think the team is better than it is. They have @2-10 Jacksonville, @4-8 Tennessee, 4-8 San Diego, @5-7 Buffalo left. They could end up 7-9, quite possibly 8-8, possibly even 9-7. Just good enough to keep them thinking they're competitive, and give the current team another chance. Tanny will blow their draft picks, Rex will brag that they were really closer than people thought to being a playoff team this year, and the circus tour will continue.

God forbid that Woody fires Rex and Tanny, scraps the team, and gets a real coach and GM.

I have a couple of Jags t-shirts that I could wear for the game. But, being that it's the Jets, I feel obligated to put on my Pats jersey.

Must disagree with you here, Mo. McElroy has one quarter of NFL experience. Li'l Marky still gives New Jersey the best chance to win, especially on the road. Wrecks isn't rolling the dice, he's playing it as safe as he can.

What bears watching is Tebow's status. It will be real interesting if McElroy is inactive.

This whole situation really couldn't have played out any better for us. Can't wait until Tebow gets healthy too

He'll never get a real coach and GM...Last one he had a shot at ran screaming from the place after resigning on a ****tail napkin. Jets fans can dream about all the Gruden's and Cowher's and top 5 names on the post season GM in waiting lists and it won't do them a damn bit of good because even with egos being what they are, no one in their right mind is betting their career or risking their legacy on that gig...

Make sure to chant for Tebow. Even if he's inactive. :singing:

The risky thing for you is that the Green Beans might win. It would ruin my day to actually pay to see that happen.

They barely played him when he was, and not as a QB because they realized after they traded for him he isn't. He's just a gimmick. Whether anyone could have developed him into something more probably remains debatable for some, but Elway and two sets of teamates including guys who loved him as a teamate didn't think so. They'll either cut him at the end of the month or try and squeeze a conditional pick out of the only team with any interest because the new owner needs him to put fannies in seats in Jacksonville.

Of course it will be more fun if you wear your Pats jersey! But you're going to get a lot of grief from the Jets fans, especially when they start to lose badly.

Having Sanchez start again makes absolutely no sense. The kid is garbage and damaged goods by now if he had any potential to start with at all.

PS There is ZERO chance that the Jets go 9-7. They would have to run the table to do that, and that team doesn't have the talent, the leadership, or the execution to win 4 games in a row.

As long as the fans chant for him his return will be glorious. Then again, they may just start chanting McElroy now

Please Rex say today, "he gives us the best chance to win". Please, I'm begging you Rex, say " he gives us the best chance to win".

Then I can go on JI tonight and have hours of entertainment that cannot be found anywhere else.

I agree with your analysis, but also understand the decision.

Ryan realizes that he, the Sanchize, Soprano and Tannenchez are going to sink or swim together (I'd be willing to bet that that was the upshot of his conversation with Johnson) and he's decided that he's ready to go down with the ship. There's something admirable about that, no matter how much glee the whole mess brings me as a Pats fan.

When you think about it, it's probably in Ryan's interests to get out of there now and take another gig as Coach or move over to commenting in the studio or even a seat in the booth, where I think he'd be nothing short of terrific.
