I think to be overly confident against a team that's 20-0 in the second half of the season dating back to 2010 would be hubris. I certainly can't predict an easy victory.

Don't worry, the Niner fans are awful enough for both teams.

Well no matter what side you are on, or who you believe is better, there's no question we are very likely talking about the 2 best teams in the NFL at the moment(no offense Falcon fans). Any time you have a match up like this, it's too close to call. They seem like a smart bunch. Only the Jets fans think they can beat us every single time we face them.

For every injury question on the Pats offense, there's one on the Texans defense. There are good players on both sides that may or may not play.

Seems at least from this particular forum that most Texans fans are not too confident their team will win this one,for fans of an 11-1 team. That's quite a shocker.
Records mean nothing in a big matchup, and maybe they're just hip to that. Good for them. One of these days some of us will learn that lesson too.

Neither can anybody here unless they are pretending. Either team can walk away the winner. Both teams should be confident, and it should be a rock fight to the bitter end.

After listening to Kraft explain how 50% OF ALL NFL games are decided by 7 points or less and that 25% OF ALL NFL Games are decided by 3 points or less, I don't think I'll be taking any victories for granted.

From now on I think I'll just stick to hoping.

Unless it's the Sanchez lead Jets.:)

They seem pretty superstitious down there about this one.

This comes down to a few key matchups and how much injuries have thinned the depth in key areas - particularly the Patriots' receiving corps and offensive line, and the Texans' linebackers and secondary.

The Texans' offense has to keep up in this one, because that defense is not going to stop the Patriots from scoring points. It will be interesting to see if the Pats' D is any good, or just a mirage since the competition has been mediocre for the last several weeks.

It would be nice to see the Patriots' OL back to near full strength, but who knows? The signing of two OL to the Practice Squad is a bad omen.

The weather is not cooperating. This one was supposed to be a nasty weather game to really test the Texans, but it looks like it will be warm and wet.

The Texans have been bad for most of their history, so a lot of fans carry those scars. We are just learning to win and deal with success. They see failure around every corner.

This will be a game, could go either way, anyway presuming a win is overly optimistic and if either team is thinking that they have already lost.

Iam not that confident about the pats chances either. Wade phillips when with the chargers has given brady a lot of trouble. Couple that with banged up oline/WR hurt and no gronk, this could be a tough day. Our D did play well vs miami but the zone running scheme of shanahan and co has always bothered BB's defense along with the naked boot leg throws. We need some turnovers to take control early I feel.

it'll be a tough game

i would have called it for NE more easily w/o all our injuries (especially so on offense), but seeing how much trouble we had moving the ball last week with limited receiving options, this will be interesting

So have the Jets but that doesn't stop their fans from claiming supremacy every single off season.

From the tone of that thread, the Texans fans are taking the DOOMED approach. That thread is simply about superstition, half of them don't really believe what they are writing.

Not sure why they wouldn't be confident...

1. They're 11-1.

2. Pats are pretty banged up at the following positions: WR, TE, OL.

It's in Foxborough in December, so it's going to be a tough game for them to win. But the Texans can compete.

First off I have to give credit to Texans fans. I've yet to meet one that is annoying (granted there aren't alot of them). As far as confidence level, both sides have good reason to be worried. This is the marquis matchup of the 2012 season and that can only happen when two great teams are playing. Each side has their issues right now, their secondary is depleted especially at the corner position. We may not have our top weapon (Gronk) or our top lineman (Mankins) and while Hernandez looked pretty good last week we're still not sure if he's full speed off the high ankle sprain. Chandler Jones status is up in the air though I'm leaning towards him being fully effective this week. So it's alot for both teams to overcome.

I believe just about everyone of us has considered this game along with the 49ers tilt a measurement of the Pats championship mettle. A win goes a long way to saying we can think about a deep playoff run. A loss doesn't necessarily mean the opposite, unless it's in a manner that shows the team isn't ready to compete at an elite level for 2012.

I would say there's a lot of pre-2004 Red Sox pessimism in the fan base of the Texans. Looks to me there's healthy respect on both sides of the stadium. Both fan bases are looking at this game as a measuring stick. Should be a great game, with late season/playoff intensity. I would wager record ratings for the broadcast.

Could just be the old reverse jinx. I invented that, BTW.
