Per Schefter: Perfect Timing, let's kick the tires.

I say go for it - I cannot stand Edwards, but I will take him over Branch.

Braylon Edwards on his worst day is still better than a washed up scrub like Stallworth

I would not even hesitate to bring him in if he is healthy although he was cut apparently with an injury issue

I believe Edwards scored a TD against the Pats this year

Seems like he could be a good red zone target until GRONK gets back

Genuine deep threat if not a bit of an idiot.

Would make the team better it's just a question of if he can learn the playbook in time to be effective in the playoffs.

Will the Rats claim him or is there some bad blood from before?

All we need is another Ocho Cinco who can't learn the playbook. No thanks. Only bring in guys who know the playbook and whom Brady is comfortable with (Branch &Gaffney).

Why was he cut? does anybody know?

Ocho needed to know only one play. Beat your man deep on a straight sideline route and catch the ball.

That's not intelligence - its skill.

Any WR available who has that skill would be an asset to this team, which hasn't quite turned the corner in finding a credible deep threat. (I'd love for Lloyd to be that guy but he's not quite proven it yet - but still could.)

In any event, I thought Edwards was injured - I'm not crazy about the guy but if Belichck likes him, then I do too and if healthy, he does still have deep speed.

Without much competition in Seattle, Edwards had 8 receptions for 74 yards this year.

Without much competition in San Francisco last year Edwards had 15 receptions for 181 yards.

I'm guessing that there is something wrong physically, and that's before we get into the concept of him picking up the mental aspects of the New England offense.

Bolden will be added to the roster soon as well. Who do folks suggest the Patriots cut to make way for Edwards and his lack of production?

No thank you.

If I were a betting man I'd say it's a combination of his play, his knee and his disparaging comments about the idiots running the Jets on Twitter (probably his finest work) the other day.

I think a lot of people underestimate the intelligence/football smarts factor that comes into the equation here with our complicated scheme and timing system.

That is precisely why many other good WRs around the league would not necessarily do well in N England.

We often see many good skills such as speed, size, strength, etc--but the actual truth of the matter is that Belichick is looking for something else too, due to some of the nuances of being able to succeed here in the system, and the way that everyone depends on each other to make the play work.

It's exactly the reason why we passed on Dez Bryant 3x over, and why many of the other WRs in the NFL probably aren't even considered here.

Braylon Edwards may be able to do okay in someone else's system, but I seriously doubt that he could pull this off here, and that is probably why Belichick would never even consider it.

Couldn't agree more.

I have a suspicion that people VASTLY underrate the intelligence and football smarts that goes into being a successful Patriot WR at least as long as Brady is the QB.

I say do it. Look what Wayne and Garcon is doing right now......

He's an ******* and on the decline. Sign the beast.

I've hated this guy with a passion, but, considering our state at WR, let's try him out.

I mean, we signed Kellen Winslow earlier this season, right??

If we want a fast guy to drop passes downfield, we've got Matthew Slater for that.
