Holy Crap! Now It's the Jets COACHES!!!!!!

The Jets allow their front office run what is going on the field far too much. For example, I think sticking with Sanchez is a business decision since he is getting paid far too much next year to bench this year. You bench Sanchez and it is too hard to go back to him next year and you can't have your back up QB eating up $13 million of cap space and $8 million in salary (his salary is guaranteed which makes him uncutable).

Platooning of Slauson and Ducasse is probably 100% a business decision, not a football decision. I think I read somewhere Slauson has a playing time bonus. I think platooning him will make it difficult to make on a team that desperately needs to conserve cap dollars. Also, Ducasse is a second round pick and Tannebaum probably feels that the Jets need to make him productive no matter what. Lastly, Slauson is a free agent and with cap problems and a lot of free agents on the team already, they want to force Ducasse to become the starting guard next year.

You read Jason's articles over at nyjetscap.com and he points out other examples in some of his articles where business decisions impact on the field decisions. Obviously, it looks like Tebow was 100% a marketing decision rather than a football decision.

This is why I think the Jets may be screwed for a number of years. Woody Johnson wants to sell PSLs and Tannebaum screwed up their cap (yes, Felger the cap is crap:rolleyes:) by giving overvalued top heavy contracts to overrated players (Ferguson, Harris) and guaranteeing money to even more overrated players to free up cap space (Scott, Pace, Sanchez) to keep building. In three short years, it has decimated the talent of their team.

Geez, it gets even better. Evidently he also threw the TE's and THEIR coach under the bus!!!!

"......He expressed his frustration with the media in general, saying that what's actually happening is seldom reported and that an offensive line coach takes undue criticism for the amount of sacks a quarterback takes, for example.

"Have you ever heard 'those tight ends didn't block well today? Those tight ends had a s----- year blocking? I mean come on," he said."

Jets O-line coach Dave DeGuglielmo says decision to play Vlad Ducasse comes from 'high above' him | NJ.com

Thats wh you get for making a gopher your GM, the good news is that Woody hired Tanny, if he fires them he'll probably promote the next gopher to GM, as long as Woody is there the Jets will probably be in trouble, we're so lucky to have Bob Kraft running this organization, crap roills downhill.

The funny thing is that guys like Rah!Rah! will blame the media for creating this Jets' circus, but what teams has a position coach tell the media that the front office is making football decisions and forcing the coaching staff to play untalented players or a player (Bart Scott) rip the fans to the media?

For all those critics of Belichick who say that Belichick being adversarial to the media and forcing the players and coaches not to say anything to the media provides no competitive advantage only needs to look at the Jets. Rex's policy of letting his staff and players say whatever they want creates huge controversies when they are struggling like they are. The Jets desperately need to put their heads down and try in what looks to be a futile attempt to win out. Yet, they are dealing with a self-induced media circus of Bart Scott and a position coach.

As Felger says, Woody Johnson is Spauling Smails. His only qualifications to own a team is that he was born to the right family. He has never done anything with his life to show he can manage his checkbook nevermind a billion dollar football team. He did start a hedge fund company, but by all accounts he was just a money man and he never ran it. He also is active in the charity world which means he pays a lot of money to attend galas and art shows.

Unless Johnson installs a real football person as president of the company, I expect him to continue to make horrible business decisions. I disagree that Tanny is a gopher. He is a pretty good capologist, but he absolutely sucks at personnel decisions. He doesn't know how to evaluate talent. That is a horrible character trait for a GM.

Jets offensive line coach disagrees with decision - NFL.com

"New York Jets offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo said Thursday that he detests his left guard rotation between Matt Slauson and Vladimir Ducasse, but that decision isn't up to him.

"That's a directive from high above me," the offensive line coach said Thursday in a testy sit-down with reporters, via The Associated Press. "You'd have to ask somebody higher than me......."

".......DeGuglielmo said despite his misgivings, he will continue the rotation.
"What's best is for me to do what I'm told to do," he said. "That's what's best......."

Good catch.

I think that one head to roll will be Sparano's. He flopped as HC in Miami and is OC for one of the most anemic offenses in the NFL this year. He's probably meddling here in the one thing he seems to know how to do: be an O-Line Coach. Talk about the Peter Principle!

The more I follow the team here in NYC, I don't fault Ryan other than for losing control of his locker room, but that's also a function of his not having any natural leaders on the team. The more I see of him, the more I actually like him and think he knows what he's doing. I don't fault him for the Sparano hiring since he was supposed to be a knowledgeable guy on Offense; I would, however, fault him for not firing his butt the minute the season is over. On the locker room control, Belichick runs a tight ship for sure, but his job has always been made easier by the presence of a Brady, Bruschi, Harrison, Mankins, Mayo or Wilfork when the door closes.

Tannenbaum (aka Tannenchez) is probably a Cap Genius, but has to go as GM with any responsibility at all for choosing players; I think even a dumbass like Woody ("Is the ball stuffed or inflated?") Johnson understands that.

The good news for Patriots' fans for years to come is that Woody Johnson will never fire himself and the organization will continue to be completely dysfunctional and one that guys like Bill Cowher, Peyton Manning and Jon Gruden won't touch with a ten foot pole.

I am hopeful that Woody Johnson keeps the current management team in place.

The only precident that I can think of where there is a complete collapse in organizational accountabilty and execution is Enron.

I am all for their execution/disbanding; but first give their #1 pick to the Pats to make up for the one they had stolen.

Then create an expansion team (likely in LA), purge all references to the Rats, and don't allow the new team to use green as it's color.

Slight reorganization to balance the conferences and....VOILA!...the league is a better place and a major scourge is expunged.

You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.

The eradication of the Jets and their stench (not to mention disbanding their drunken and ignorant fan base) would be a great gift not only to the NFL but to humanity. The stuff of a Nobel Peace Prize for anyone who can pull it off, IMO!

The big obstacle is the small matter of the $750,000,000 that Woody owes on the stadium in the Meadowlands; somehow, I don't think the Mara's are ready to pick that up and add it to their half of the Loan.

Most amazing about this is it is NFL.com - Official Site of the National Football League that is undermining one of its franchises openly about a General Manager with the tone of the story and the last sentence that this is another screw-up by Tannenbaum.

It's almost like the NFL wants to clean up what should be a marquee franchise by embarrassing the owner into doing something.

Think about what it actually means to dump on a couple of offensive linemen and the GM who drafted them. This is so far in the weeds for NFL.com and more along the lines of what local media or message board dorks like us wring their hands about.

Can you imagine NFL.com putting out a piece about Marcus Cannon and Donald Thomas, criticizing Belichick and Nick Caserio for risking picks on them? First, no one cares, and second there would be complete Red October silence from the Patriots on this issue.

Why should the NFL go out of it's way to help rescue the Rats from their self-inflicted wounds?

Would they consider doing that for any other team, or is this just because it is the precious NY media market?

The NFL has already tried to lessen the disparity between the Pats and the Rats.

**** the Rats!

Let them suffer their just desserts and fade to black.

No coach related butt collisions? I'm so disappointed! :p

More often than not, the Jets are terrible. Two consecutive AFC Championship games was the aberration.

This team is doomed for years as they do not have a franchise QB. We are spoiled by the consistently excellent Tom Brady! Thank god.

Just look at the long painful road the Dolphins have been on since Marino. Cleo Lemon anyone. They made the playoffs with Chad Pennington once and they might have something with Tannehill, but it is really hard to find a QB.

The Jets could be bad for decades to come. Trading Revis for a couple of first round picks might make sense for them as he will want to renegotiate his contract at a time when they have real cap constraints. Trading him for picks at a rookie wage scale injects youth and frees up cap space. Just make sure they trade him to the NFC.

NFL.com's goal is to drive page views. That's why they actively report on scandals and embarrassments, etc.

It's not like NFL Network or NFL.com was silent about the Saints bounty scandal or spygate.
