Nope, not like those games at all. It was THE SUPER BOWL. The Patriots defeated the St. Louis Rams 20-17 to become world champions, and as Ricky Proehl sagely predicted, on that night a dynasty was born. You can kvetch about it for the rest of your life, but it's not going to change, Lamby boy.

Well I'll be honest w/ y'all, & I'll tell you a little story. I remember that game very well, as I watched that ESPN Sunday night game w/ my friends. I was ECSTATIC when we beat you, as that was a HUGE win for us on the road. Inspite of what many of you might think, I do know about football. While how much I know is debatable, I have been watching it for over 20 yrs. And I do know when a team is SURGING they're tough to beat. So my friends looked at me like I was nuts, when I said that was a big win. Bc I knew that y'all were on FIRE since Brady took over, & you were playing some really good football. Of course those same friends disavowed all knowledge of that game, after watching your boys beat us in the big show. But I said the same thing after that win in Nov. As it really was a hard fought victory, inspite of how "some" Patriot fans think we were a bunch of "pansies." They're just mad bc they don't know how to use crayons that's all.

Just change "you can't use that excuse" to "one may not use the rationale of the lessened restrictions inherent in a play action pass maneuver as justification for impeding the progress of a pass-eligible receiver coming out of the backfield well once said receiver is outside the lines of the extended tackle box.

I didn't look, but the play is sure to be on 3G2G if you have the DVD. I mean, if ONE has the DVD. I didn't mean to imply you personally should own the DVD. Dang! Do I have to drink more herbal tea? I don't really like it except for Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Spearmint, and then only late in the evening.

Edit: Just re-read this and see where it could be taken as antagonistic. From my recolection Willie wrapped his arms around faulk but imediately jumped back with his arms out (as to say " I didn't hold him") and faulk almost fell down trying to break free, that is why the flag was thrown...there was no playaction pass, Warner was deliberatly trying to run a bootleg to run it in or dump it over the D for the TD...It was an Iffy call, but there was a lot of hard hits and grabing in that game, who to say how the outcome would have been...

I actually just rewatched the play, and I think it's pretty clear it wasn't a designed bootleg. He dropped straight back and looked left, right, middle, found nobody and then took off.

Willie got him good. My only explanation for the play was that Willie assumed it was a play fake so that grabbing Faulk would be legal. It didn't really look like there was much going on on Faulk's side of the field in the end zone, and I think he was going to run toward the pilon, in which case he would have been one on one with Willie. Tough to say what would have happened. I'm happy the way things worked out though!

I actually recorded the NFL network's re-airing of SB 36 a few weeks ago. Yes yes I had the %#@$#$#$ thing on tape from 01, but I wanted it on DVD. Besides for some reason I haven't exactly been able to watch it since. YES I KNOW IT'S BEEN 5 YRS, BUT IT STILL HURTS OK?????

Do us all a favor. Place duct tape around your head prior to watching SB 36 on DVD. You won't cause as big a mess when your head explodes while watching the game.

My sentiments exactly, My question is, isn't within 5 yards from the line of scrimmage fair game to bump coverage? It would have been tough, but Willie is pretty athletic and could have jumped up and picked it off if It did come that way, Faulk is shifty though, so he might have gotten under Willy, but Warner would have had to make a perfect throw, obviously right after that he ran it right in, knowing that he most likely wouldn't have time in the backfield for another passing play go to the WR's with the line playing the way it was...

It was a great game, nerve racking, but great...A definite classic.
