Yes, I'm talking about the play where Warner fumbled on the goal line and Tebucky returned it for what would have been the clinching touchdown, but Willie got flagged for tackling Faulk.

My question is this: was that on a play-action pass? I can't remember clearly, but I think it may have been.

The reason I ask is that, on a play-action pass, defenders are allowed to tackle any runner who is reasonably expected to have the ball.

It's been bugging me.

I don't remember, but I think it was. Warner ended up rolling to his right while Faulk ran out to the left, so it was probably some kind of bootleg. I doubt they would run a sprint-out with Warner and no play fake.
I am not sure though because of that rule you just cited. Now that I think closer, I think it was a regular play where Warner was looking right and got forced out of the pocket by Phifer maybe? I checked youtube and couldn't find anything.

Yeah, I checked YouTube, to no avail. Man, people are so lazy! :)

Faulk was way out in the left flat on a goal line play. No way could you use that excuse. WMG held him and was called for it. It wasn't necessarily a bad hold. Warner would have had Faulk for a TD if Faulk got by Willie. It was Faulk being held that made Warner move to the right looking for a receiver.

I was asking.

Cheese and rice, some people here are high-strung. Try decaf, brother. Oooh! Or herbal tea!

However, thank you for clarifying the play itself. I couldn't find any video.

I think those things were up on youtube before youtube got anal about NFL stuff (after the NFL complained).

yes warner was passing the ball but when Willie knocked down Marshel Faulk Warner ran for the score but lost the ball but if wille was pushing Faulk it would have been Game over.

It was not a play fake. Faulk was lined up offset about 4 yards to Warner's left. Warner dropped straight back, and Faulk ran a pass pattern to the left directly out of the formation, and Willie wrapped his arms around him. Warner and Faulk didn't come within 5 yards of each other.

If it had been a play fake, though, it shouldn't have been a penalty.

From my recolection Willie wrapped his arms around faulk but imediately jumped back with his arms out (as to say " I didn't hold him") and faulk almost fell down trying to break free, that is why the flag was thrown...there was no playaction pass, Warner was deliberatly trying to run a bootleg to run it in or dump it over the D for the TD...It was an Iffy call, but there was a lot of hard hits and grabing in that game, who to say how the outcome would have been...

"A lot of hard hits & grabbing?" Uhmmm only by your boys, & not by my team. You got it right though Warner rolled out trying to find a receiver, after Faulk got held up. I actually recorded the NFL network's re-airing of SB 36 a few weeks ago. Yes yes I had the %#@$#$#$ thing on tape from 01, but I wanted it on DVD. Besides for some reason I haven't exactly been able to watch it since. YES I KNOW IT'S BEEN 5 YRS, BUT IT STILL HURTS OK????? Anyway..............point is y'all were holding us up all game, & they finally called it when Faulk got tackled. BUT as I've said since we SHOULD have held your WRs the same way, & made it a fair fight. Unfortunately for us that idiot Lovie Smith, didn't make the adjustment & didn't fight fire w/ fire. And regardless of who held what, none of that matters bc we still ended up tying the damn game. Only to watch Lovie Smith's MORONIC prevent defense PREVENT us from winning that %@#%$%#$@ game.

Bc had we gone to OT, & the Rams win the toss? Based upon how we were clicking, we had the momentum & I believe we could've won it in OT. Unfortunately though Brady & that b@stard Vinatieri killed all that noise real quick. Anyway y'all have won 2 SBs since that time, so why even bother talking about 01? What are y'all upset that you didn't blow us out? Here's a news flash for you guys.........You NEVER blow ANYONE out in the SB. So take your victory lap, & enjoy it. Bc I sincerely hope it's a cold day in hell b4 y'all have another one.:D Unfortunately I just don't think I'm going to get my wish, bc it looks like y'all will win your 4th SB b4 the decade is out. And that just makes me die a little bit inside.:(

Rams receivers didn't get held; they got legally pounded, because the book on them was that they were soft and didn't like contact. The book was right, judging by the T-Rex Arms Disease they apparently contracted.

Hey man, why the hell are you on our board? is it because you want to fell what it is like to be in a Dynasty Forum? Your responses are very colorful but you lack tact and your consistent disdain for Our Pats makes me wonder if deep down inside you wish you were Tom Brady.
We played smash mouth football in SB 36...something your stock boy wasn't used to... my favorite moment of that game is when Vrable smacks Warner in the mouth for the TY pick and the next series he gets sandwiched by 2 defenders and almost chokes on his mouth piece as he goes down, he looked like he was knocked out there? How did you feel about that one?

Man at the end of that Game Warner's Face looked like road kill...Ahh the memories!

Legal at the time, but how come they came out after that & emphasized the pass interference rules more than they had in SB 36? Hmmmmmmmm? Another funny thing is that even though SB 38 ended the exact same way ours did? For SOME reason the Panthers actually got to receive the kick off. Why is that? Oddly enough it's bc the NFL also made it a rule that you couldn't run the clock down after the play is completely over on a FG. Which the clock operator did in SB 36, & why they made it a rule. I'm not saying we had a snow ball's chance in hell of returning that thing, & in all honesty it would have probably turned out just like Carolina's return. Much ado about nothing. But I would have still preferred to SEE the game end legally & fairly, w/ your boys properly having to K/O after the FG.

"I lack tact, & I wish I was Tom Brady?" And here I thought I was CRAZY. You're making me look like the SANE one, & that's really saying something.

......my favorite moment of that game is when Vrable smacks Warner in the mouth.....
Ohhhh yaaaaa I remember that. That's the one where the Refs didn't call the illegal SHOT to the HEAD on the QB right? Yaaaaaa now I remember, it's hard to keep all the missed calls straight you know. Course I'm in the wrong room, if I'm expecting to get any sympathy here. Trust me fellas I'm not expecting anyone to agree w/ me here. Oh sure it'd be nice & all if a Patriot fan would meet me half way, & agree that there were some missed calls. Luckily though I'm not holding my breath. In any event like I said, it ultimately didn't matter bc we still tied the game. Then our defense found a way to forget what FG range really meant, & your boy Brady drove em down to win it. OH & BTW I hope y'all enjoy pulling for that IDIOT Lovie Smith this Sunday against Peyton. BWAHAHAHAAHHAHA!!! If he finds a way to lose this game (like I believe he will), then it'll be a small measure of revenge for that SB 36 prevent defense. Not much.......but a little smidgen.:p

Because the league wants offense.

Nooo "yous guys" wouldn't recollect anything like that now huh? Especially since the Referees hadn't started letting you hold WRs at that point in time.:D

they were actually afraid of getting hit.
I would be embarassed if i was a fan of that team.

one color will suffice moron.

I remember Mike Martz saying the Pats were the best team they played all year after that game.
