Welker and Lloyd are healthy.
Edelman has a concussion.
Salas has been waived.
Branch and Gaffney are injured, but presumably available.
==================
Even if Edelman is healthy, I think it reasonable to have four WR's on the 53.

Salas should clear waivers. Branch is just a phone call away. Even Jab is available. But against Miami they may not need to actually utilize another receiver. I think Brady stayed in in part to get some reps with Fells and his young backs just in case.

Don't worry, Ebner is taking snaps at WR.

Vereen looked fine split out wide. That should add an interesting wrinkle if need be. Well, not split out wide but you get the point.

I bet Branch is back Monday or Tuesday.

Also hope. Because I love the guy.

what was the point of upgrading Salas? what did we see when he was in the 53 that was not seen when he was on the PS?

6 snaps against the Colts

Yesterday, Slater was the #4 WR with 6 reps. He would have had more in case of injury (the 2nd role of the #4 WR).

Rather than relying on Slater as a receiver, I would prefer adding Salas, Branch or Gaffney. As Mo indicates, we can wait until after the Miami to make the move.

I posted this in the other salas thread as well

Eagles claimed WR Greg Salas.

Just looking at the current healthy receiving options, bolded are most viable players. Slater has 1 nfl reception, in other words I don't really count him, lol. Wish they'd pic up a 4rth WR option.

Welker
Lloyd
Edelman

slater

gronkowski(injured)
Hernandez
fells

Shiancoe
hoohoo

Woody
Vereen

ridley
Bolden(injured)

What did everyone thought of Hernandez yesterday? I know he was targeted 3 times and ended up with 2 catches for 36 yards and I was going to track him the entire game. But once the 2nd quarter happened, I'll admit I was having too much fun to really pay close attention to him anymore.

Just saw that Eagles grabbed Salas off waivers. Hate when that happens .

Thought he would be a good addition to the WR corps.

Not clear he actually won Brady's trust. :(

I think it was more a numbers crunch with so many OL dinged and Zusevics having to be IR or activated. Salas' salary was bumped so for a PS player he was making big $$$ comparitively speaking. BB probably thought he could get him back on the PS.

(I believe Salas was PS eligible)

Now were down to two legitimate wide receivers (I'm pretty sure edelman sustained a concussion and his availabity may be in question for the future). Why didn't we drop Rivera instead? Now we'll have to bring back Branch, Jabar Gaffney, or Stallworth. God damn Shegales!

Why didn't they drop Rivera? Hmm.. Probably because the kid is damn good on Special teams and they need an emergency ILB.

Edelman looked absolutely fine in the locker-room video after the game. I thought it was a concussion as well, but he clearly wasn't showing signs of it. It was probably just precautionary.

Branch and Gaffney are both injured currently. They might as well look at other teams because they're more likely to find someone who can take some reps at WR and be effective than Stallworth could.

If Edelman is ok, should be no panic on the WR front.

BB will figure things out.

In BB We Trust :rocker:

Branch has been as useful as teets on a bull - why would we want him back? We aren't better with him so just go on with what we have - Edelman will be fine after 10 days, Herndy will get better as he gets healthier and the other TE's will also as they have more time in the O. Branch or Gaff bring nothing.

Sadly this is true. It's time for some people to let go.

We should really should start talking about Hernandez as a WR not a TE. We run Hernandez and Lloyd outside, Welker on the inside. Branch being released is 100% about Edelman, who really proved that the belongs on the field since Branch dropped off the roster.
