Dan Marino and Cris Carter embarrass themselves with criticism of Pats
By: John Morgan

Did Cris Carter or anyone else say anything when it was announced Luck hit 300 yards passing on the Colts' final possession, or that when it was announced that on the same play Wayne had eclipsed 1,000 yards receiving - and suggest that instead of stats t...

I still remember that whenever he broke some record or other against the Patriots... the next play would be a pick.

I remember he broke the completions record back in 95 or so and then on the next play, I think he got picked by Maurice Hurst. Dan flings his helmet off and was pissed the rest of the game.

Really?
Embarrassed themselves?
Marino made an off the cuff comment. Do you expect his OPINION to have to be filtered through a comparative analysis model to ensure his OPINION is consistent with the prepomderance of facts? A little touchy?

Carter also is correct to say that BB put Brady in harms way in what may have been a meaningless part of the game. Its exactly what he did. However, BB and Brady both feel that the risk is small and playing 60 minutes is important. Carter is correct, BB would agree with his comment and say he left him out there in spite of that small risk.

Do you really expect the media to comment about who is on the field and not getting injured on a PAT in a blowout win? Gronk being out there was discussed because its a story. And yes, some teams will yank the golden boys when the lead is large. BB isn't one of them. Never has been, but that does mean he is exposed to criticism when that plan backfires.

Not sure why you see these guys answering questions honestly as an embarrassment just because you would rather slant them in your favor.

Carter absolutely embarrassed himself both last night and this morning on ESPN. I saw Marino make his comment and simply wrote it off as wishful thinking on his part. Carter, however, was an entirely different story. His dislike of BB is both genuine and well-documented.

he also hates Ordway and the Big Show with a vengeance...after seeing his clip I can safely say Carter has put the hype in hypocrisy...I thought he was more intelligent than he displayed in that segment.

Please explain how he embarrassed himself.
Saying that BB put Gronk at risk of injury is accurate. I don't know how anyone could call that statement wrong.
That is what the article I was responding to cited. What 'well-documented dislike' are you talking about?
Criticism is not well-documented dislike by the way.

Carter is what he is. He is a self-confessed ME guy. His comment the other day was WRs care about 2 things "Me, and My Money".
He also has no axe to grind on BB.
It amazes me how people here think that any negative comment towards the Patriots, justified or not, means that person has a biased hatred and agenda against the team.

Cris Carter, Cris Carter...hmmm I am drawing a blank. Oh wait, isn't he that bitter scumbag who can't get into the Hall Of Fame?

Keep crying about the Pats, dummy. And I'll keep laughing every year they shut you out of Canton. IMHO, you don't belong there until about 40 other WR's get in first.

John,

I am so glad you mentioned the teaser BS they have been doing this to me all year with the Blitz on sunday night. I literally have conceded myself to recording 3 straight Sport Centers because I like to make sure I catch Berman breakdown the Pats. Sometimes the teaser BS on sunday night has to do with them airing the post game pressers but even still its not like they dont know they are going to air them yet they still tease the Pats only to not show them for an hour or even until they refresh and start the episode over.

Both guys have been in the media for years. After years and years of saying some of the most moronic things imaginable on TV and radio, do you really think either guy could say anything to embarrass themselves at this point?

Wow, you told him. He said something negative about the team you root for and you put him right in place by laughing at his 16 year NFL career that had 1100 receptions and 130 TDs, because he is such a loser that he is only a HOF finalist who hasn't gotten inducted yet. What was he thinking to mess with you?

Carter was a fine player. Carter as an "analyst" makes more boneheaded comments than not.

Cris Carter showed his true colors when Tom Jackson argued you don't just have a backup PAT team, and he responded arrogantly "How well has the patriot way worked the last 8 years?"

That shows the different criteria applied to the Patriots doesn't it?

True or not, that is totally irrelevant to the comment I was responding to.

It's perfectly applicable. Carter the analyst is taking away some of the gloss Carter the footballer built.

Not at all. Did you even read the post I was responding to? It was making fun of Carter for not being in the HOF, as if that made his a loser, nobody, ironically coming from an NFL fan posting on a fan message board, under a ficticious user name.
If you can't see that has nothing to do with whether he is an astute analyst or not, perhaps a different topic would make a more interesting discussion for you.

I read the initial post, I read your response, I understood both posts then subsequently made my own comment.

You truly are a marvel.

I actually think some of the TV talking heads have just gone right off the deep end in an effort to be topical and relevant.

Comments about Brady's participation late in blow outs is I think well founded. Play 60 minutes....come on....Tom is going to play 60 minutes in probably 14 out of 16 regular season games. There is more value in having the back up get some real snaps in a real game than in Tom finishing out 100% of the 16 regular season games.

As for the comments about Gronk and the PAT team....those are BS......why? Because Gronk has been on those PAT teams all season long. If a media type thinks something like that represents an undue risk then....he has eyes....he can see it on any Sunday and comment on it any Sunday....but Noooooooo.....when do they open their big mouths.....when an injury occurs. If the risk was to great to have Gronk on the PAT team during the last PAT effort of last Sunday it was to great on every PAT effort of every Sunday this year. I did not hear any of these brainiaks commenting before this past Sunday.

Apparently a 93-28 record, 7 outta 8 years in the playoffs and 2 superbowl appearcances don't mean anything.

Chris Carter is just upset he never played in a superbowl.....Idiot.
