BostonHerald.com - Blogs: The Blitz» Blog Archive » Rex Ryan on Tom Brady: “He’s like a machine back there”

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — It’s bad enough for Rex Ryan that Tom Brady racks up stats and breaks records. But the Jets coach said the Patriots quarterback’s true value is in the other things he brings to the field.

“You can almost say he’s like a machine back there,” Ryan said. “The thing about him is he’s a machine, yet he’s passionate and a fiery leader and all that type of stuff. You wish he was just a machine. But his competitive side elevates his team as well. That’s what you get in those once in a generation type of quarterbacks. He’s just a special guy.”

Looks like the Jets and Ryan are going to continue the "kill 'em with kindness" approach that they had earlier this season.

Rex realised that the trash talking didn't work with the Patriots so he decided to try reverse psychology. Too bad for him, that doesn't work either!! The Patriots have a way of tuning out everything and just focusing on the game at hand, and that is one of the many reasons I love this team:D

Steve Young was basically saying the same thing on WEEI today, in response to why Brady doesn't get more prominent consideration for MVP. Young said that Brady makes it look so easy that he gets overlooked, and that it's not a story with him because it's the same all the time.

He also called him a once in a 2 generation kind of player, basically saying that he's even better than the so-called once in a generation guys. He did everything but call him the G.O.A.T. and, given his NFL history, you can't really expect him to go that far.

Its nice that Brady gets recognition form some guys, but I still question Rex's motives. I am not sure if he is sincere or if its his so called 'strategy'.

I think its a little bit of both.

I lean more towards the 'godfckingamnit, why couldn't the Jets have signed Brady...." apprach.... :D

This team has no time for Rex's BS, it's a short week to prepare and get down to NY and play. I doubt any players are listening to him trying to butter the teams bread.

We need to soak it all in ladies and gents. We are witnessing something we will never see again as Patriot's fans. Very rarely does a franchise go from generational QB's to another great QB. Some teams have been lucky, with gaps in between. For example Green Bay Bart Starr, big gap, but then Brett Favre, then Aaron Rodgers, that's pretty amazing. Dallas, Satubach+Aikman, the Pats had borderline HOF'er Bledsoe, then Brady, we've had almost 20 years of QB greatness.

"he's like a machine back there"

Don't fall for this seeming complement, people.
The perfidious Jets are setting Brady and the Pats up for a fall.
They're waiting until the Pats make the SB and 72 hours before the game they go to the press always hungry for anti=Patriots "news" with MRIs supplied by Eternal Champion that show Brady's arm is a Cyberdyne product and a new round of cheating controversy erupts.

I think he's insinuating something. Machinegate?

I am sure this commendation came after Gronk was ruled out. Makes Ryan's Job a little easier not game planning for the Tank. I hope some of our unknowns step up.

I have to say I'm a little stunned by these comments coming from Steve Young. I was a big fan of Steve Young the QB but ever since he joined espn he has struck me as a very arrogant person and I don't think I have ever heard him say anything nice about the Pats. That and the fact that he is probably considered one of the top 10 QBs to ever play the game, I would say this means a lot coming from him.

Yes, I like the Jets humble. Every single time they behaved respectfully in the week leading up to the game, the Patriots stuck it to them.

It's totally strategy, he's trying to butter up the Patriots organization because he's going to need a job after he gets fired at the end of this season. It's no secret that BB is Rexy's binkie.

Brady has become self aware.

Rex Ryan logged on here and saw all the encouragement several posters gave him about becoming the DC of the Patriots after he and Tannenbaum get canned in January 2013. As in golf, a little ball washing can make a world of difference.

and he will be a machine out there tomorrow night once again

You still don't get it, do you?...That's what he does! That's ALL he does! You can't stop him! He'll wade through you, reach down their throat and pull their ****in' hearts out!
