Manning called Brady to get ready?

If Peyton is such a jerk, why is Brady friendly with him? I think the guy doesn't think any different from most quarterbacks when he feels he was wronged, or feels he's out there trying to win the game by himself, he's just too honest and says what he's thinking.

I have never heard Tom Brady threw his linemen under the bus, after a loss.

I have never heard Tom Brady refer to his kicker as an "idiot" at the Pro Bowl.

I have never seen Tom Brady scream and make gestures to his coach, during the course of a game when he does not like something.

It's pretty easy to tell that no matter how much of an "aw shucks regular guy" Manning tries to be, it's all a facade. Underneath that you can tell he feels a sense of entitlement and is pretty arrogant.

You hit the nail on the head. Nothing screams entitlement more than squatting his buttcheeks on the face of an unsuspecting female trainer in the lockerroom. He teabagged her, and laughed about it. The family paid $ and hushed it up.

Just how friendly do you think they are?

How about that time he (allegedly) waived the punt team off the field? Can you imagine Brady doing that to BB?

I realize the Pats and Colts are rivals and that breeds animosity, but I am confused why so many Pats fans hate Peyton Manning. I can understand the hatred for Polian, but to me Manning has always been a class act. Did I miss something?

Brady is classier and more successful, yet he's the most hated player in the league barring TO.

The guy is like a god around here. Honestly though the people here are ready to hang him if he does not win the Super Bowl. Can you blame them? They had a better team last year and he just happened to choke a little sooner in the playoffs. I predict a big time choke on Sunday.

Well, Peyton Manning was right about that statement. And wasn't that "Liquored-up idiot kicker"? or something along those lines

That's hogwash and you know it.
People may dislike BB and Rodney Harrison and some others but I've never heard a bad word spoken about Brady, more than that of bitter envy. (I don't include those in the Boston sports media who debated whether they should have kept Bledsoe). Most hated player in the league besides TO? Please. Some of you really take this 'us against the world thing" far too literal and waaay too serious.

I don't like Archie and the way he handled the draft with Eli was a disgrace. But I don't see why Peyton should be condemned for that. He's the media darling but again hard to fault him for it. No matter what you have to admit he is a Hall of Fame QB, ring or no ring.

There will always be debates about who is the better QB, option A or B, whether it is Manning & Brady, Elway & Marino, Bradshaw & Staubach. That is just watercooler talk. Fault Manning all you want for not winning but he has also never had anything resembling a championship caliber defense. Somehow in the playoffs this year the Colts D finally started playing well enough after a horrible regular season.

Brady has a lot of things going for him but his choice in friends is highly questionable.

I hope Brady's not giving his winning tips to Manning!

They still have to play each other for a few more years!

I agree, but I think he does it more because he realizes he is the face of the league, and he takes that responsibility seriously. I personally doubt they are as close of friends as the media makes them out to be.

Well, I know he's the most hated player in upstate NY, that's for sure.

I do think a lot of NFL fans despise Brady, but I wouldn't say he's in the top 5 most hated.

Uptown by Tulane. I work in Harahan, in fact I'm there right now.

Live and work in Harahan, so you are probably right down the street from me. I work on Edwards Avenue.

Speaking of Tulane, I graduated from there last year. Checking out any TU baseball games this year?

There really is nothing to dislike (let alone "hate") about the guy on a personal level, unless it's purely envy. The same extends to how he performs on the field. Anyone who despises Brady is simply envious of his accomplishments. He's a very humble, down-to-earth guy, moreso than Manning. And he worked damn hard for what he's accomplished, coming up as a sixth-round pick. Again, unlike Manning -- a first-rounder born with a silver spoon in his mouth who was EXPECTED to excel from day one.

He was not just a first rounder, he was the OVERALL FIRST PICK by Jim Mora back in the 1998 draft. Pound for pound, no question Brady has outshined him big time. It took Manning nearly 10 years to get to the big dance. TB did it in 2.

Not questionable in the least that these two would be friends. QB's are a fraternity, and these are two who will enter the HOF within a few years of each other having played most of their career's as each others foil. Fans can hate on opponents but in today's NFL most of the players see each other as future potential teamates or broadcast booth partners, with few exceptions for the bonafide a-hole.

Ted Johnson said a few years ago he was fully prepared and somwhat determined to hate Manning until he met him in the off season and discovered he was a really great guy to spend time with.

Tom wants to beat Peyton, but absent that I wouldn't doubt he roots for him because having walked off the field in defeat less than half as many times in his career he still knows how that feels and he likely hopes Manning finally gets his chance to not have to have his 9th consecutive season end in defeat.

These two are the most cerebral and focused and dedicated players at the position and both base their game around reading defenses. So I'm sure after giving Tom some time to chill Peyton hit speed dial since we did beat the Bears earlier this season. Hopefully Tom told him the key to victory is turning the ball over 5 times and just making a few heroic plays down the stretch...:D

The only reason Manning isn't going for his third Super Bowl ring is because Tom Brady stopped him twice. I'm okay with them being friends - let's just hope Brady can get the win in the next playoff meeting.

That's sloppy reasoning. This is a team game. Brady actualy had very little to do with getting the the SB in 2001. Defense, special teams and a guest appearance by Bledsoe got the Pats there.
In 2002 Brady struggled. Then in the next two years he played as well as probably anyone has played the position.
It's silly to get into hypotheticals but if Peyton had a defense like the Pats had in those years it is reasonable to think he would have had more success.
That said, I think Peyton's success this year had a lot to do with him taking what the defense gave him, hitting the otherneath stuff and sustaining drives, rather than looking or the quickstrike. But it can't be ignored that the Indy D actually played better than they ever have this playoffs.

there is nothing "alleged" about it

i watched him do it last year and was amazed.

I was even more amazed that nobody talked about it.

God, I just want Manning to win for once, since we can't do it this year, just get this guy off the front pages, put it to rest. He's a great QB, no doubt. I cannot stand the way his ol' man has injected himself into the boys' careers, but that's what dad's do sometimes. Just get it over with. Let him win and he can go back to losing to us in the clutch. If he wins this year it will be all the sweeter to beat him back down to size next year.
