I look forward to seeing him play. It'll be nice having a tall corner for a change. :D

It'll be nice to have a corner.

So, why is Ridley not wearing a number....

He picked a good # to make a name with. I think the most notable 31 for the Pats in my memory was Jimmy Hitch****

I, too, am looking forward to seeing what he can do. I think that BB really wants to make DMac's switch to safety a permanent one. If Talib can ball, then that makes it easier for BB to do that, which I think is the best move for the secondary.

Lets hope he is comfortably eased into the defense for the tougher games down the stretch. Could be a game changer by taking away the opposition's big reciever. A couple of INT's wouldn't hurt either ! :rocker:

Agreed. I'd like to see his tenure with the Patriots begin on a positive note. A note where he eases in and makes a play or two....and hopefully buoys that whole groups' mentality (the whole group must be pretty down considering every Sunday they have to hear how bad everyone thinks they are).
Unfortunately it's game 10 coming up and the reality is he won't have much more than this Sunday to ease in.

Where I'm dubious is the hope that he is going to take away the other team's top receiver. That's a lot to ask of a guy who hasn't seen the field in 5 weeks and is coming in mid season to a new team. If he can? Great! We hit the jackpot. Yet him playing adequately on the same side of the field will be enough to make the difference considering the story so far frequently is: 'The Patriots opponents always seem to have just barely enough to pull out the win in the end OR just barely not enough to pull out the win it in the end'. Just adding that adequate CB to the right side of the field should be enough to change the story to: 'The Patriots opponents always seem to have just barely not enough to pull out the win in the end OR clearly not enough to pull out the win it in the end'

Welcome Talib!!!! The defense will automatically be better with him in the line-up, how much better is yet to be seen...

How are you forgetting Sergio Brown? I won't forget this!

My expectations are realistic, to just assume he can step into this defense, understand its subtleties and make an impact might be more difficult than we believe...

He may make us better, but time will tell. I am not expecting him to play every down this Sunday, unless they change to man to man coverage.. which I doubt.

Not expecting him to play a bunch of downs either but who knows. What I do know is whether there playing man or zone he's likely to be better then Arrington or Dennard.

This.

While I have alot of confidence in this kid, I think people are expecting way to much already. These will be the same people blasting the guy for one burned play. Normalize our expectations, especially now, he's just getting in. Expect some bad plays as well but he absolutely gives us better coverage.

I just hope he came to the Pats in good shape.

My memory is that the track record on a lot of these guys coming off suspensions / holdouts or whatever is that if they rush back into full use; they come down with some pull or sprain that takes them out for 2-3 weeks.

I would love to see him take a full game role on Sun (and be healthy enough for it); but my expectation would be that he only sees situational duty unless someone else gets hurt.

Is there any doubt in anyone's mind that he makes the game-active roster?

we have a tall corner. his name is ras-i-dowling. a tall corner who can play is another story....

Are you suggesting that you'd rather give major reps to Arrington than Talib?

We're 6-3. We'll be in the playoffs. I would like to see Talib get as much experience with the defense as possible in anticipation of the playoffs. Talib is clearly one of our best defensive backs for every game, and we should put our best on field, unless injured.

Wait, is that an actual talented defensive back that I see practicing with the Patriots? I have seen one of them in... four years.
