You're wrong, as usual. They're starters on most other teams.

Sure, MOST TEAMS wanted them as starters and they decided to come here and play behind Gronk and Hernandez because they don't want to be starters right?
I bet teams are dying for the 4 combined receptions these 3 'starters on most teams' have.

I could see Ron Brace cut.

I could see Ron Brace cut.

I think there's always the possibility that many guys can potentially be cut at some point, and some in the fanbase certainly feel as though Brace has underachieved.

I for one think that he is just fine in run support, and will be here at least for the rest of the season, unless he's injured significantly. Whether he is here again next year is a whole other issue, as I expect the position to be upgraded significantly.

I don't think we can really afford to cut anyone on the front line right now, as the possibility already exists that Warren may end up coming here for the stretch run to add run support/depth/rotational interior pressure.

Just my opinion though, anything can obviously change on this team, and that's usually a good option to have. The Pryor situation will warrant keeping a close eye on too of course.

I think it all goes to your definintion of JAG.

Hoah is for sure a JAG.

Shiancoe and Fells WERE starters. Now, out of the 64 TEs around the league you could consider 'starters' (for a 2TE set capability); they are in the middle and back half respectively.

A little bit disingenous on your part using the 'they decided to come play behind..."; Shincoe was overcoming an injury and the number of teams that could afford/were willing to let him recuperate was limited.

Also using solely pass catching (vice blocking standards) to identify them as a 'starter' is a bit one-dimensional view.

Further Shiancoe has a 9-year avg 27 rec /yr (36 in 2011). Fells has a 4-year 22 rec/yr avg (19 in 2011 and 41 in 2010). So citing their performance so far this year is also a bit disingenous. I think if either of these guys is on the roster last year in place of an injured Gronk the SB result changes.

That said; while I wouldn't call them JAGs they are HIGHLY REPLACEABLE - LUXURY ITEMS unless Pats get hit by MAJOR TE INJURIES.

The Pats or the Giants dont consider Ballard a JAG
That may be the case, may not, but he isn't even part of the discussion because he is injured and wont be playing this year.

Well that was a well earned rookie contract for Pryor. Very Crablesque.

Because he's spending the entire yr on PUP, he is no longer going to be a free agent next year, so technically his rookie pact will go through the 2013 season too.

Either way, you are certainly right. He has indeed been very "Crablesque" up to this point.

THere goes supposed help for the inside pass rush.

I just hope that the Pats have a way of keeping Pryor and Glass IR Dowling from associating

At least we can say that Pryor was 'only' a 6th rounder, as opposed to the massive hype and hope that Dowling brought as the 1st pick of the 2nd round.

It's obviously never a good thing to see any draft picks wasted, but I can live with the Pryor situation much more than Dowling.

I wonder if/when they'll be making a call to the Gerard Warren bat phone, unless that's a worst case scenario that will only occur with substantial injury?

I think:
Trevor Scott - to IR, because he is injured and hasn't done much when active
Tracy White - to IR, because he has been injured and they've replaced his SP/DEF contributions with younger players.

...replaced?

We don't have anyone capable of playing half as well as Mayo/Spikes/Hightower other than White. The other LB who could is on IR.

Ninkovich is the 4th LB.

See I dont care where they are drafted. They are on the team either way. I guess its just because I never had any interest in the revisionary history exercise of analyzing the draft in hindsight.

Ninkovich is the 4th LB.

You'd rather put him at LB and away from DE instead of using White?

I know he 'can' but moving Rob away from DE when you don't have to is bad news.

Which is why White is important. Probably one of the better coverage LB on the team too

Scott deserves more time to heal (from whatever ails him) before IR is a possibility.

I would've had no problem IRing White a long time ago when we still had Carpenter;
but because we don't, and the rest of our backup LBs are complete garbage, then Bill
has no choice but to hope that White is good to go after Thanksgiving.

My choices for *****-canning when/if Talib/Shiancoe are activated: Mal Williams & Rivera.
