I've scoured the web and found not a word spoken by Talib about the trade. He's not prohibited from talking to the press and obviously many sources have been trying to contact him. It's beginning to feel a little weird, like maybe Talib isn't so pleased about the trade and just won't talk it about it. There has to be a reason he's been silent. I'm hoping it's because he's already bought into the Patriot way. Though that seems like a stretch...

He's suspended.

Obviously. But that doesn't prevent him from speaking with the press.

usually when you're suspended you don't talk

I got an email from him but he wants it kept confidential.

How about a word from his agent? And plenty of players have spoken during their suspensions before.

I heard he only talked about the trade to a Boston cab driver and to his sisters new boyfriend

It's probably a combination of being suspended, being traded and now being on the Patriots. I'm not sure if BB/Kraft have or are allowed to have contact with him but I imagine the conversation would go like this:

"Welcome to the team. We're excited to have you. Keep your mouth shut for the next few weeks."

He has a twitter account but he has been silent on it,last post was in September.

Maybe the kid's brighter than people assumed and just figured this was the case. I know if I was in his situation I would be avoiding the media and if I got cornered my only answer would be "I'm excited to join one of the best organizations in football.".

Is the team allowed to give him a physical right away, or do they have to wait until the end of his suspension?

Yeah id be furious if i got traded from a perennial loser to a team that is constantly a Superbowl pick.

I heard a interview on 98.5 with his college coach who has spoken with him. He told him that he was excited to be coming to New England and looks at it has a chance to start fresh.

My thoughts exactly. He's happily looking for a place to stay near Foxborough

I hear that Welker's condo is for sale..

EDIT: I for one am looking forward to having Talib as a Patriot. Sometimes all a person needs is a clean slate and someone to believe in him.

Is Welker planning on leaving after this year?

(It's bye week and we might as well beat a dead horse until it's time to guess the score of the Buffalo game!)

I apologize! Heh, I was trying to be just a little funny -not beat the Welker horse trade thing.

I'll edit in a link in a couple minutes after I find it. There was a thread here about Welker selling his condominium and all that it might mean... you can probably imagine.

At around lunch time, I heard an interview with Talib's coach from Kansas on 98.5 - i'm pretty sure he said that he had spoken with Talib about the opportunity of being in New England and that Talib was very excited and realized what a career opportunity this was. My impression was that Talib was being smart in staying away from the media and making his first impressions in person when he is able to get to Foxboro.

  • He's excited for his fresh start.
  • He admires the Patriots.
  • He'll do whatever the coaches ask of him.
  • He has high regard for Schiano.
I have heard or read no interviews with him whatsoever. Still, I'm confident that's what he's saying. :)

This is typical. In New England, you earn the privilege to speak to the press.
