Sterling Moore waived, Derrick Martin signed

No, it's an example of you misjudging a player. Moore's never been good.

He's more than serviceable as a Nickel or Dime back. Although, I think FS is more of what he would shine at in the NFL judging by the system he played at in college at Southern Methodist.

If Moore got cut because he sucks, then why is Arrington still here?

He's not serviceable as a nickel. He's not serviceable as a dime. He's not serviceable as a safety.

You know nothing other than negativity.

Carry on.

Neither Carpenter nor Moore are PS eligible, and they had 2 PS spots open before cutting Silvestro, so they're making lots of room for...practice squadders.

Yes, that's what it is. I'm down on Sterling Moore's play only because I'm all about negativity. It's not because he's not good, or anything radical like that. BB really cut him just because he knows that there's another team out there that wants to offer him a 10 year, $200 million dollar fully guaranteed contract and the Patriots can't match it even though they want to, so BB's cutting him loose as a favor to one of the greatest football players ever to grace the fields of the NFL.

I have a few theories on the backend roster moves they make like no other team does:
1. Performance based release - really didn't see anything obvious with Moore
2. Attitude statement - How hard was the guy working, is he really committed ( I'm grasping there but who knows)
3. Simply trying to take the 53 man roster and expand to 60 give or take - By releasing Moore and signing another DB, they can see what they have to work with and if they are struggling with depth at some point, they bring back Moore assuming nobody picks him up which is quite likely. Wouldn't be surprised if this is what was said to him and the others (Carpenter, Branch, Rivera, etc.).

Had they released Arrington, I suspect he would have been picked up pretty quickly.

Okay, so Moore is cut, that's all well and good but who is this Derrick Martin? And how is he better than Moore?

We don't know what's in the cards for Moore being here in the future, after all he was released twice last yr too.

As far as his play goes, it wasn't good when left one on one with Demarius Thomas--that's for sure. I also believe that was due to a lack of proper safety help.

Moore did just fine in the first 2 games, and held Larry Fitzgerald to 1 catch for 4 yds (with good help over the top, as was planned.)

He didn't look like a sore thumb sticking out unless he was matched up one on one, which he basically sucked at....I do agree that he may have been used in a backup safety role, or even as a backup CB, but apparently Belichick doesn't, and he is the expert and the boss.

I agree that he hasn't looked 'good,' but when considering guys like Arrington, Chung etc---it's still somewhat of a head scratcher as far as adequate depth goes.

Here's hoping that Martin (???) is somehow better.

I do not think that Deus is trying to be negative, only telling it like it is (with a slight biased twist that is not substantial).

He never cared for Moore, nor did many.

Different posters will always have differing opinions, and that's what makes being a fan here great.

Moore deserved another look this year, and I am glad that he got one. He apparently didn't take full advantage of that opportunity, although I also don't think that he played any worse than guys like Arrington or Chung (in coverage) either.

He may be added later on in the year, but he also may not---to this point all we can hope for is a stronger showing from Martin, but I'm not holding my breath.

Martin was on the last two super bowl winning teams, lets hope he brings us the same luck

Good grab on that stat.

He's come from winning/competitive programs, so let's hope that is a positive sign.

Anybody else think the Bills will make a waiver claim for him?

I would guess that a weakened secondary team certainly will consider it. There are certainly some teams like DET, BUF etc that could use the depth.

He also gained himself more attn with the AFCCG "play," so that may come into focus too.

I'd say Buffalo so they can try to get some insider info.

His signing might mean that Wilson might play in more coverage. Not sure that is a good thing seeing that he is still learning the NFL passing game.

As far as for Moore, I know some folks have a special place in their hearts for the guy and he did make a few nice plays here and there but he was AT BEST a dime DB.

Moore has been living off his AFCCG play since then. He was one of the people trailing Mario Manningham if I remember correctly. This is the second time he's been cut by the team in about a year, so he must be doing something wrong. I'll trust our coaching staff's judgement.

Thanks for helping get us to the Super Bowl, Sterling. Good luck where ever your career takes you.

If he's as bad as some people on here think he is, he's not getting a waiver claim at all.
