LB Bobby Carpenter released

This could mean we are activating a player from PUP or Schianco on that in-season IR designation

I guess with Tarpinian, Koutovides, and Carpenter, the feeling was that there are enough ST linebackers when Tracy White returns.

I was much more comfortable with Carpenter spelling a starter than White, Koutovides, or Tarpinian, and was happy when he was picked up.

Just an argument on depth though.

Hopefully Pryor is on the way.

I'll always think of the hockey player before this guy when hearing the name "Bobby" Carpenter. Dad should have stuck with Rob Jr.

Regards,
Chris

Thats one guy I'd love to see play. He really does seem to get some good interior pressure from the few snaps I've seen him play over the years. I'm going to pop the cork on one of my champagne bottles if he makes it through the season healthy.

Well maybe he was thinking that NHL teams would be confused too and that just increases his chances of being signed by a "team".

Too bad for him the NHL is currently locked out.

Bobby has taken over the yoyo reigns from Mr. Ventrone.

= Hightower's hammy is all better

Hopefully Pryor. I'm tired of seeing Ron Brace seeing anywhere near any playing time. I'm tired of him for general. He's had four years on this team and has had what? 10 tackles?!

39 tackles in 4 years,15 of those were assists....with ZERO sacks as well

Brace is pretty much a waste of space, might as well bring Haynesworth back, they both are equally inept to this defense.

I would like to see more Deaderick, myself

The funny thing is I never liked Brace from the day we got him in the 2nd round. At least Vollmer proved me wrong...

I think Bill caught Brace in action after a few visits to BC or maybe he is in good with the BC coach and Ron got a good review.

I think sometimes Bill looks at these local kids more than he should,I don't know what he saw in him.

OH REALLY???? Why didn't you back me up when I got upset about Brace all those years ago? I got stoned by the hecklers here for calling him a big cheeseburger....

Bobby Carpenter is Bill Belichick's new Ventrone.

Good move - they don't have to put him on waivers by releasing him prior to the trade deadline and have to deal with another team's claim. My guess is he's back on the practice squad before Friday at 5 p.m.

He's a 7 year vet. Not eligible for the PS.

If nobody signed him all that time, why would they claim him now? And if they really wanted him wouldn't they just sign him before Friday? Don't think this whole claim thing really matters honestly.

Has Carpenter really not played enough games to be practice squad eligible? That's pretty surprisingly.

The number of years in the new CBA is 9 years service. NFLPA won the change in the contract - I don't get why there is any upper limit. Rex Ryan might want to put Joe Namath on the PS as a precaution for when they trade Tebow and Sanchez say "No Mas!" in the rematch with the Patriots.

I'm pretty sure it's still 3 years......

Section 4. Eligibility:
● (a) The Practice Squad shall consist of the following players, provided that they have not served more than two previous seasons on a Practice Squad: (i) players who do not have an Accrued Season of NFL experience; and (ii) free agent players who were on the Active List for fewer than nine regular season games during their only Accrued Season(s). An otherwise eligible player may be a Practice Squad player for a third season only if the Club by which he is employed that season has at least 53 players on its Active/Inactive List during the entire period of his employment.

I just deleted my post - there is no # of years limit that I can find anywhere in the current CBA. The limit is the number of years a player can be stowed on the PS. Since Carpenter hasn't serve any years on the Patriots PS so far, there is no restriction.

Rex Ryan can put Joe Namath on the PS in case Tebow is traded to the Jaguars and Sanchez has a nervous breakdown in the huddle.
