so...

A) Do we need another TE?

B) Regardless, is he worth trading for?

c) If so, what would it take to get him?

Over to you the experts

NO. They need help in the secondary, IMO.

Cook wants out because he's not getting enough playing time. Coming to NE isn't going to fix that. Also, Shiancoe isn't the physical mismatch that Cook is, but he's a similar style of player and can come back for the Pats' next game.

I think having the 5 TEs they already have should be enough, and is probably 1-2 too many as it is. Having 6 just might offend the gods.

I think what matters is when Revis asks for a trade

If he's willing and able to convert to safety, then go for it.

The New England Patriots already dealt with a disgruntled tight end earlier this season:

Kellen "I'm a Sol-Ja" Winslow Junior.

Still signed him though despite "having the 5 TE's" mentioned earlier.

They didn't have 5 TEs available to them at the time. Hernandez was out and Shiancoe wasn't an option. With the bye this week, Hernandez should be back and Shiancoe can return.

OT, but I still don't really understand why the Jets haven't brought in Winslow or Shockey for a test drive. That's a team that needs a lot of help on offense, including at TE.

The Pats have already traded Cook once! He was who Tennessee drafted with the third round pick the Pats sent to them in a draft day trade. I believe the Pats used that second round pick to draft another TE named Gronksomething or other a year later.

I think that trade worked our OK for the Pats.

But, no they don't need another TE. They need a saftey!!!

Eight is not enough?

The Dolphins have six WR's on their 53 man roster. You don't think they's jump at the chance at a Welker, Megatron or AJ Green at the right price. I suspect BB isn't collecting TE's for the sake of it and that quantity is trumped by quality in his mind.

I seriously doubt the New England Patriots organization will trade for a disgruntled football player, who incidentally will be an unrestricted free agent in 2013.

Jared Cook - Tennessee Titans - 2012 Player Profile - Rotoworld.com

7/2/2009: Signed a four-year, $2.450 million contract. The deal included a $700,000 signing bonus. 2012: $615,000, 2013: Free Agent

Acquiring somebody when the season is half over is problematic.

The need at DB would surely outweigh those problems, but that's about it as positions go. Probably not even LB.

Trade for him and have an offense with Gronk, Ballard, Shiancoe, Hernandez and Cook all on the field at the same time, next season. You can go 5-wide, you can run the I-formation with Hernandez at RB, the flexibility it provides is ridiculous. Put those guys on the field, see what kind of personnel the defense has on, and adjust the formation accordingly. I'm kidding, it makes no sense for us to trade for Cook at this point, but I can't help but think the scenario I just described has gone through BB's head at least once in the last offseason, when he poached every quality TE available on the market.

How about a two-fer? They can pick any two on the list, except for Gronk/Hernandez. Maybe three, who cares?
