can anybody tell me what this immature injury prone n.f.l. reciever has done that makes everyone so high on him. It concerns me even when he was healthy he couldnt get on the field, did he show any glimpsesof brillance? i watched every play this year and i didnt see much. The patriot reciever position is a difficult one to play you need intelligece to read defenses, just ask Donald Hayes and Bethel johnson, and Doug Gabriel. If by the end of the year he couldnt beat out the 3 in front of him thats something to be concerned about.

So your point is?

Jackson's big test will be next year. If he does not develope into a useful reciever next year, barring injury, he will be a bust. It's just that simple. I don't know anyone who is high on him now but it's too early to count him out.

What he's done to make everyone high on him is irrelevent - what's relevant is that it's no big deal because most (not all) WR do little as rookies.

Same thing next year ? Then your question is valid.

I'm still high on him. A little disappointed that he didn't progress inclemently last year but I'm still high on him.

i agree i just dont uderstand people putting him in as a1or 2 next year. you still have to adress the reciever position and if jackson works out thats a bonus

i agree with you PATSNUTme

next year will be his test

I agree, you don't build a contender around an unproven commodity. We have to approach the offseason like there's a hole at WR, and if Jackson pays off then we're rewarded with depth.

I think he will do it, seeing him make special teams tackles shows a willingness to go through the ropes in order to improve. I don't recall Bethel doing the same.

:yeahthat:

That first sentence is going in my signature if you don't mind.

Did he even play one offensive play in the playoffs?....the last catch he made was a one yard loss as far as I can remember (I know, it wasn't his fault it was a bad play but still it goes to the point. Why doesn't he see 35 yard routes with his speed and size).

I am not sand bagging this guy yet - just saying his first year disappointing considering he was the second highest rated guy and we traded up for him.

Patience, child.

Furthermore, the Pats should address Wide out thru free agency - not the draft. Too much uncertainty and we need a contributor next year. With good wideouts, the Pats should be there with the Chargers for the bye weeks........assuming we also get about 4 or 5 twenty two year old stud linebacker/safeties to relieve Bruschi Harrison Vrabel

No one is building the team around him. Don't forget, this kid came out as a junior, and he is very young, so I am not shocked at all that he didn't become a starter instantly.

The real question is, what has Chad done to show all of you haters that he is "immature?"

According to Reiss, Jackson participated in 5 out of 204 offensive plays during the playoffs. Some secret weapon.

"Look at all the white women!"

I'd like to see the guy get punt return duty next year. he showed some real good glimpses this past year on punts.

I don't think his lack of time in the last part of the season means much - they went with the two veterans as the starters and wanted consistency of players to help Brady get locked in with two guys after the WR transition.

every writer ive had the pleasure to speak to says he acts like a punk in the locker room also there was issues at the kick off gala

Great. Who let Tom Casale back?

IMO, if he actually did say that, then I wouldn't say he's immature, I'd just say he's your average 21 year old with a sense of humor.

As for Chad Jackson's potential, I think some of us might be high on him b/c he produced 117 catches, 1548 yards and 15 TDs in his final 2 years at UF.

I know there are a lot of folks out there who would honestly rather Chad Jackson turn into a bust then produce for the Patriots as it would provide the basis for their entire feelings of self worth.

How about maybe we give both Chad Jackson and the coaching staff the benefit of the doubt and assume that after missing the entirety of training camp and fighting nagging injuries throughout his season, the staff decided it might be better to bring him along slowly. Of course, the idea that the coaching staff has any responsibility in his development is foreign to you people. Let's not forget that if CJ were truly a "bust", Belichick, like any good coach, would take that as a personal failure in his own ability to coach.

So, for all of you out there who get excited at the thought of Chad Jackson being a bust, that's fine and dandy, but how about you put a little friggin faith in Belichick's ability to develop and bring players along at whatever pace he deems, as he has a pretty damn good track record at it.

Are you sure? B/c Dan Pires has said that he's actually a very popular guy in the locker room.

Shmessy: I suggest check IPs on patsgo & Seymour93. Casale may be back for more.

I'm unclear on this kid. I don't know what his deal is because I don't know any Patriot's coaches. Until I hear something in stone directly from a coaches mouth to the media, I am going to keep drinking the kool-aid that they are bringing him along slowly. Evidently he is no Terry Glenn though. If BB thought he would make an immediate impact he would of played more this season.

This is just one of those things you have to suffer through by having a winning coach. The media is in check and it seems they can't get the inside scoop on such matters. I'd take the winning coach scenario anyday though.
