This was the first game this season where Brady wasn't sacked. When Brady doesn't feel the pressure, he plays 10 times better. I know there are some people who like to deny it, but Brady plays poorly if the defenders are getting him onto the ground. I'm very happy about the pass protection today, as well as the run blocking, which for the most part looked great.

If the O line can continue to hold up well and Gronk can stay healthy, this offense should continue to dominate. And as long as everyone gets healthy we will be set.

The interesting thing is that, he has played very well when Mankins is not playing. Make of it what you want.

Ryan Wendell has been playing great. Another graduate from Scar U, I like him better than Koppen/Connolly at C.

Most QBs play less well under pressure. Not terribly surprising.

Seriously the fact that people always say this to try and slight Brady as if every single QB doesn't do this is obnoxious.

Sacked, I can only think of 2 times that he was TOUCHED. I roared at the hilarity of the announcers giving the St Louis DL some credit for putting pressure on Brady when he made just a 3 step drop and couldn't find anyone open. He still had plenty of time.

Right, but to me it seems like there is a more drastic change in his game compared to other QBs. One week, people think Brady is an above average QB at best who's exiting his prime, and the next week he's phenomenal. my point is that the pressure affects his play more than the other elite QBs. And since when is Brady and "most QB's" aloud in the same thought?

how are you measuring this? Which "other" QBs? AFC Qbs or NFC Qbs? Are they above 5'10"? Home or Away? 1pm or 4pm games? etc.. etc...

Just my observation. But I'd rather not get into the "Brady uncomfortable in the pocket" argument again. :spygate:

Gotta give kudos to the OL!
Great protection for Brady and good blocking up front to allow Ridley to 'do his thing'.
I look forward to seeing this line continue to gel and improve.
Especially as guys get healthier, such as Mankins, etc.

Brady's been sacked 290 times in his 10 1/5 full seasons playing, P Manning 241 in 13 1/5 full seasons, Drew brees 220 sack in about 10 full seasons, Dan Marino 270 times in 15+ seasons. he's been sacked more than Warner(260)and Aikmen(259) in there 10+ year careers. Only sacked 23 less times than Montana(313) who's played almost 30 more games than TB.

TB's been sacked more than some of the greats, don't believe the myth that he's been sipping English Tea back there for most of his career....

Brady is smart at taking sacks, though. He generally knows when its time to give up so he can take care of his body. Some of that is on him, some of it isn't. All in all, 30 other starting QBs would love to play behind our OL I bet.

Agreed, just showing he gets sacked more than most people think and if you look at the numbers he plays quite well doing so.

total bull!

I read it right here...he's LOST IT!!!! It's over...the sooner you agree and get your Borges injection the better off you'll be, young padawan Bawkwalker...
Must be Julian Edelman who has "lost his magic".

Wes Welker all day any day.

Guess last years probowlers.. Light, Mankins and Waters were overrated...

Solder was brought in to replace Light. He had a year to develop. He's a stud. His success does not reflect on Light. Both are fine players.

With regard to the interior line, perhaps Wendell, Thomas and Connolly have been underrated.

Totally disagree. I think pressure affects him less than a lot of the top ones. Brees is the one who deals best with pressure, but Brady deals with it better than Manning and Rodgers. When under pressure, Manning is more prone to throw INTs, Rodgers is prone to sulk, Brady is impacted with inaccuracy but at least tries to move around the pocket to find time, and Brees just has an incredible knack for running around and setting himself quickly.

Obviously, on the next rung of QBs, Ben R. is the best under pressure.

Which Manning are you referring to?

Hats off to the offensive line.

The number one strength of the St. Louis Rams was/is there defensive line which includes three first round picks. They have a pair of excellent defensive ends, Chris Long and Robert Quinn, that can really cause havoc. Ar DT they have Michael Brockers and Kendall Langford, who along with MLB James Laurinaitas can clog up an opponent's running game and also collapse the pocket - something that is the best way for a defense to neutralize Brady and the Pats passing game.

It's unfortunate that some are going to dismiss the win as 'oh, that's only the Rams' when in fact the Pats OL did a great job against a very good defense. Look at what the Pats OL did to change perception of the Rams' DL:

Before:
Fast Forward: Rams have formula to trouble Patriots - NFL.com - Gregg Rosenthal

The template to bother New England's offense isn't that complicated. It's just difficult to execute: Create pressure with your front four and have physical cornerbacks that can harass the Patriots' receivers in man coverage.

St. Louis has the talent to pull it off. Chris Long and Robert Quinn rival any edge-rush duo in the NFL. Patriots offensive tackles Nate Solder and Sebastian Vollmer have done a nice job this year, but they will have their hands full Sunday.

After:
Rams Report Card: Defense, coaches flunk : St. Louis Post-Dispatch

DEFENSIVE LINE: The front four never sacked Brady and seldom even pestered him during his four-TD performance. New England gashed the unit on the ground, too, rushing for 152 yards on 24 running back carries. There is no way to sugarcoat this. Chris Long, Robert Quinn, Michael Brockers and Co. got manhandled. And these guys are supposed to be the foundation the Rams are rebuilding upon.
