For the first time in a long time it doesn't look like there will be anyone cut his year to create cap space.

About the only one I can think of is Corey. However, I think that they will come to an agreement with him before that happens.

Have I missed anyone?

If Corey is cut, it will be because he isn't worth $4.6 mil. I doubt they need more than the $30 mil in space they have now.

Others disagree, but I think the Pats are in excellent shape cap-wise, and other teams which I shall not mention are not good shape.

imaybe wrong but i think brady's cap hit is around 11 mil so we have prolly less than 20 mil i think..

I think that Miguel posted a thread that were were around 26 mill under. That put us as one of the top 5 or 6 in cap space.

Brady's $11.3M is already included. :)

Cap Killin' Corey Dillon is my biggest worry right now, and not due to our cap status, but as has been mentioned, the team may not place 4.4mil of value in him.

Oh and he says he will NOT renegotiate....

Every player says that.

And why would any player say different? Who volunteers for a paycut when they haven't been asked?

I don't think he will but cut but maybe they try to extend Colvin to make his number easier on the cap. Miguel has it listed at $6,434,720. Harrison at $3.4 and Faulk at $3.2 are others who stick out a little.

I think I saw somewhere that Colvin's is pretty high, something like $6.7 Also saw another stat that Dillon was only in on about 25% of the snaps and that $4 plus would be a lot for a player on the field that seldom, given the Ptriots business/cap philosophy.

No way Colvin becomes a cap casualty. They may ask him to extend, but I doubt even that.

I do think that Dillon will be asked and think that he will do it too. The only way he doesn't is if he decides to retire. He knows no one is gonna pay him "big back" money anymore and this situation is perfect for him. It's long not been about money for Dillon. I say he's back, or he retires.

I seriously think Corey Dillon may retire. Running backs can only take a beating for so long.

He won't play anywhere else.

He took a real small contract as good faith then went out and broke our all time rushing record then played with an injury to help us make the playoffs.

Maybe there's a gentleman's agreement that Corey's earned a little "get back" this year?

hahahah
i like the new nickname
id say dillon and faulk are the two that look a lil ehhh at their cap numbers
and colvin whos startin to grow very old on me

Dillion took a contract where he has been paid below a good back amout for 3 years now and they might keep him ot make sure maroney is fully ready by this year.
Also he rushed for 815 yards and was healthier then maroney if he can reproduce the same with a little less carry he will stay this year.

he never panned out to be the player he was in training camp his 1st year. it's astounding that he plays as well as he does, but he's not the "where is colvin?" player he was brought in to be.
IMHO patriots need one of those crazy OLBs that colvin was supposed to be. vrabel is very valuable as a player for 25 snaps a game, not out there every dang play.
IMHO patriots also need a quick young ILB who just wants to go to the ball. alexander is not that kind of LB, and would be better outside. bruschi is the signal caller. he may have lost a step, i don't care. he's important on the sidelines, and in the huddle.

dillon and faulk?
it seems to me faulk has become a better RB every year he's been here. he was one of those dangerour, game-breaker types in college. he reminds me of mack herron. but mini-mack was much faster. that's faulk's flaw. at $3.4 mill, i wonder. how can he have a contract like that when viniateri didn't? when the're noot gonna pay daniel graham?
dillon: if his history is an indication, he won't accept a pay cut. on the other side, it's clear to me that he enjoys playing here, for a winner, with coaches he respects. he's still hungry. if he can still stand 15 carries a game, he wears defenses down. no fumbles, good pass blocker. but $3.4 million? who made that deal? and they won't want to pay graham, one of the best-blocking TEs in the game? samuel, the "ball magnet" (ty law)?
i'm getting tired of this.
any system still needs the players. IMO pro football is a coaches' game, not a players' game. but ya still gotta have the talent and the experience on the field. we sure coulda used mcginest against the colts, woulda kept alexander on ST. would kraft have commited to an extra $3 million to win that game, $20 mil under the salary cap?
this cheapskate stuff is starting to urinate me off.

If he's going to reproduce, the number we need to look at isn't his time in the 40, it's his sperm count...

wasn't Willie cut last year when the Pats had plenty of cap room?

No way they pay Dillon his salary next year. In my view Dillon was overpaid these last two years, more than making up for being underpaid in '04. I scratched my head when they announced that deal and assumed they'd cut him after year 2. nothing has changed to make me think they won't cut him.

He did not say he will not renegotiate. His agent says that he does not expect to be asked to restructure.

IF Dillon won't renegotiate down he's gone.
Has a chronic ding in his left shoulder that kept him from laying any licks on defenders this year. Watch the tapes on his runs to the right side. Dives down the moment defenders close in.

Faulk fumbles and is brittle as bone china. Where was he in the second half last week?

Maroney was never the same back after getting hurt mid-season.

Pariots offense consists of Brady...a decent Oline...and a bag of hockey pucks.

No one will be cut because we need cap room. Of course, players could be cut if the FO decides that the player isn't worth the cap space used. IMHO, none of the players mentioned have even a small chance of that happening.
