Who Will Get The Reps At Safety?

I am curious, do the Pats have any DBs on their Practice Squad? Seems like it would be worth trying out someone with raw ability to see if he can be coached up. I cannot recall hearing about any. I think there was a safety who was added, but later released.

Wilson should be in almost every play. After that there are many options. We certainly could avoid using 3 safeties. In any case, Ebner and Moore seem the obvious options to me.

For me, McCourty, Dennard and Arrington are our corners, with Cole as our dime back, although Moore could have that duty if he isn't playing safety.

I am not convinced that Ebner will start or even get major reps. I would start Moore.

IMHO, McCourty and Dennard are our best corners. It is not a time to move McCourty to safety (but then, there never was such a right time). Dowling going to IR should end discussions of moving McCourty. Besides, McCourty is playing reasonably well, certainly well enough for opponents to avoid him much of the time to concentrate on Arrington (and his 158 rating for opposing quarterbacks).

I agree McCourty is by far our best corner, but with both starters out, I think playing him at safety again this week makes sense.
Cole and Moore were both ahead of Dowling at times, so its not like we are missing a key piece.
I think its Dennard and Arrington starting, with Moore and Cole coming in on nickel and dime.
Once the safeties are healthy, McCourty goes back to corner, Arrington competes with the other corners for nickel and dime snaps. Wilson, Chung, Gregory are the safety rotation.

Malcolm Williams

Bounced on and off the practice squad last November, was on the roster as a special teams player for a couple games last December.

I cringe at Arrington playing as RCB let alone LCB.

McCourty and Wilson at safety and Arrington, Dennard, and Moore at CB, Cole and Ebner will also see some reps.
