Ras-I Dowling has been placed on injured reserve with a thigh injury. His sophomore season is over.

There was a slight tear in Dowling's thigh. It's a legitimate injury. Best case, he might have been back for the playoffs.

Thigh injury is not expected to require surgery, so Dowling will be at full strength for offseason workouts. Unrelated to torn hip labrum.

Re: Ras-IR-Dowling officially on IR

Ras-IR. What a shame, he is so talented and can be great in this league. He just can't stay healthy. Next year is a make or break year, especially if we bring in more Cornerbacks.

Ok...i just moments ago raged over this kid in another thread for missing the Rams game.

Hilarious. I'm done with him. Can't wait for next season and somebody arguing that he is a rookie.

Well, I won't be defending his injury history anymore. It was overrated in college, but his pro injury problems are very much not overrated. The guy cannot stay on the field.

Glass IR beats out Chung for missing games

How the hell can a guy be so soft? It's mindblowing.

Does anybody actually see this guy developing and staying on the field for 16 weeks?

Chalk up another bust.

That pick makes me very mad.

He makes me very mad.

What a waste.

On a side note, Patriots need to make a corresponding roster move. Signing a Free Agent will be difficult since they're in London, so a Practice Squad promotion is most likely. Here are our candidates:

FB James Develin
WR Greg Salas
TE Alex Silvestro
T Matt Kopa
G Jeremiah Warren
DT Marcus Forston
CB Malcolm Williams

Salas or Silvestro could potentially be brought up to help our receiving corp with Hernandez down and Gronk and Welker injured. Though I'd suspect Williams to get the call. He can play CB or S in an emergency, but will most likely be a ST fill in.

It's a coaching problem.

I watched Glass IR Dowling leave the field in the Jets game wincing and sitting on the bench.
You guys who never played in the NFL while battling a virulent yeast infection need to man up.

Re: Ras-IR-Dowling officially on IR

ahh what a pick.

I have no problem with the pick, like the Gronk pick you take an injured player at point much later than they would have gone, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I wonder who the Pats add to the roster? They desperately need another DB...

And, no, Malcolm Williams really isn't an option since he's almost exclusively a special teamer.

sign somebody off the Rams PS!!??!??!?!?

pull the plug. Lets move on and find someone else. Always hurt and never on the field. We have a running bet on if he could finish a full game. Looks like that bet is over with.

Gronk had one injury to my knowledge.

The other guy had several different injuries before entering the NFL.

What a ******* waste that 33rd pick has been so far.

mayoclinic's idea of trading for Aquib Talib is looking better and better right now. Looking forward to using another high round pick on yet another DB in the draft. :(

Hate to say but I don't think this team is going far in the postseason this year.

Dowling recorded a tackle in 5 games in 2010 ( college )
Dowling recorded a tackle in 2 games in 2011
Dowling recorded a tackle in 3 games in 2012

Dowling has contributed in 10 games total over the last 3 years, or approximately 3 games per year. ( Pro average 2 1/2 games per year ).

Dowling has never recorded an interception, a forced fumble, a recovered fumble, or a sack in his 2 year NFL career. Dowling does have one (1) pass defended in his NFL career, since becoming the first pick of the 2nd round.

Too early to say that, IMO. The pass defense is a disaster, but the front seven has the capability to become dominant. If they can do that, it would somewhat mask the awful secondary. In the end, they've done more with worse. But a move needs to be made at this point, whether it's internal or through trade.
