I dont know if any of you guys agree , but for the first time watching our games whenever the camera zoomed on Tommy on the sidelines v the Jets he didnt look good ! What i mean is he had that worried look even when JM was talking to him. Could he have been ill, becoz he sure looked it. Sometimes we catch him smiling, speaking to players, but this game he was not the same. I hope not so he can travel well to London and light it up for all our UK fans.

Actually I have noticed that about him for awhile now, not just the Jets game. I've caught plenty of instances of hem where he doesn't always look like he's having as much fun out there.

I said it last year before the superbowl. The Giants players were having fun, talking smack, enjoying themselves, and it seemed like our guys just were not allowed to have any of that.

Felt sad for our guys. I imagine after awhile it becomes draining to always be so serious and professional. After all, this is a game. And entertainment.

Gronk was pretty much the only guy on this team that showed excitement and passion and this year, even he seemed to have been neutered.

The expectations they face is greater than other teams, because for this team it's Superbowl or bust. I just hope it's not at the point where a regular season win is no longer enjoyable or something to look forward to. Of course it doesn't help when any time you win you end up criticized as much as when you lose. They have to win a certain way, or beat opponents by a certain amount, or otherwise it looks like they lost.

A close win in overtime basically means we failed, and should feel embarrassed, rather than what it means for most teams which is an entertaining, hard fought and exciting football game with huge plays when the game is on the line.

Just my two cents.

if anything, I'd say first, that at 35, this is not as easy for him as it once was, and also that he could be getting frustrated with the poodle that just showed up to screw with the offense

He doesn't look ill. He looks frustrated. A constantly interchanging O-Line because of health reasons and shaky execution in the majority of their games this season would probably be why.

I like how you conveniently left out the time that drive started.

1. That drive started at 5:44 of the 4th quarter with the Pats only up 23-20 and a defense, up to that point in time, unable to stop anything. McDaniels was calling plays with the intention to SCORE, not run the clock out.

2. The running game couldn't break off nice runs that day. Without Mankins, the blocking to the left side of the O-Line on running plays was totally inconsistent.

With that in mind, you're chiding McDaniels (or least doing a horrible job of attempting to) for trying to score when the reality is, if he had done what you suggest and the Jets had driven down the field to score anyway, you'd actually have a POINT in chiding him.

Like everyone else here, I'm just speculating because I don't know the guy and because he doesn't say much to the media that is off script ("We've got to get better at closing out games," "We have to have good practices during the week," "I want to play another ten years," etc., etc.).

To me, his sideline demeanor is a cross between "determined" and "frustrated," with little to help us discern which is dominant. But I will agree with the Poster who suggested that he sure doesn't look like a guy who's having "fun." If he's "frustrated," he sure hasn't shared its cause(s) with me and I don't think he's shared them with anyone else outside of his inner circle, so I'll leave those who think they know more or better to speculate on "poodles" or whatever.

I don't buy the "ill" hypothesis, unless "ill" includes "unreported injury" (as we have seen in the past) in its definition; this is a guy who led the Pats to a blowout of the Steelers in the AFCCG in 2005 in sub zero wind chill with the flu and a 101 degree fever after pulling an IV bag out of his arm (of course, he was 27 at the time, but I'm not ready to join the "Brady is in decline" crowd at this point).

So, what I see on the sideline is a veteran player and future HOFer who is not satisfied with his performance or that of his team.
