Who the hell Boos their own team in a key 4th quarter moment?

I get so annoyed and frustrated at our crowd. We all know we dont make enough noise and the stadium is poorly designed blah blah blah. But what the hell is with booing your own team late in the fourth (tied or with lead??) after a crappy series offensively?


PS and an extra big wtf to anyone that actually left?

Giving up 13 straights points and punting on offense, giving the ball back to the Jets with a chance to win warrants boos in my opinion. This was looking like another epic colossal Patriots 4th Q. failure and the crowd knew that.

If anything the booing was actually doing the players a favor. Letting them know the performance they were putting was unacceptable. Gave them a boost if you ask me.

I guess all fans are frustrated but we still had a lead so booing was a little too much IMO. Kind of sad .Not sure which other fan base will do this? 3-4 yrs from now there will be a lot of booing when our Top players and coaches leave.

As evidenced by the post above - this team isn't allowed to endure any rough patches - as we all remember how the SB winning teams 2001-04 won every game in glorious fashion, don't we?!

Don't get me wrong, it is frustrating to watch at times - but alot of fans here have simply lost perspective on how hard it is to win in the NFL (Brady said exactly this in a recent presser) - just because we steamrollered alot of teams in 2007 we now expect the same every week.

I look at the Ravens once vaunted D getting run over almost every week, the Steelers struggling to a 3-3 record with their D in disarray.

The Giants can't find a running game, the Packers can't buy an offensive line OR a running game - this is the typical NFL landscape - nearly all the teams have some type of obvious flaw.

For now its about making the playoffs, and hitting them hot - sounds simple, difficult in practice.

Did anyone bother to listen to Brady and hundreds of other coaches and players week in and week out?? It's really hard to win in the NFL.


It's October and as our rookies on defense continue to learn, I think this defense has a lot of potential. Doesn't happen overnight, the experience that Jones, Hightower, Wilson, Dennard are getting should pay off big time come Dec & Jan. I look for this teams defense (yes defensive backfield as well) to make that needed stop late in the 4th quarter to preserve a win. I look for the defense to make the key plays in OT to close out a victory (kind of like yesterday).

The offense is absolutely a work in progress and my hope is they play their best game of the season in February this year.

We're 4-3, tops in the division and setting things up nicely for Nov & Dec football.

What more could you ask for??

Yeah, Tom Brady has no chance of knowing that almost throwing a pick was not the ideal outcome without the crowd booing him.

That was the tough part. They were still leading . Too many fans who attend games seem to go there expecting 2007 .

I'll grant you there was some booing but it definitely wasn't widespread and for the most part the crowd hung in there and made plenty of noise for the defense. When the game seemed to be slipping away (again) there were some very upset fans but from what I could see they weren't booing except when McCourty fumbled . Having said that, there was a point early in the game when it seemed like the crowd just might have reached a breaking point but that turned around fairly quickly which was fortunate. As always there was a sizable contingent of Jets fans who were very vocal at times so not everything you heard was from Pat's fans.

I think someone from this board was sitting in the row behind me.
For the entire 4th quarter, he would say "Ok, here comes a screen, run, incomplete pass and punt". Whent he Jets got the ball he would say, "OK lets hope they score the TD quick so we have time". When Hill dropped the pass, a huge play in the game he said "What are they all cheering for, he was open and dropped it"
Some fans watch thinking they are entitled to perfection, and whine when they don't get it.
To have a crucial play go your teams way and say you shouldn't be happy is crazy.

I don't think the booing is as big of a deal as some make it out to be. They paid for their ticket and have no problem if they want to voice their displeasure so long as they are even louder when they are making noise. I tend not to boo but understand the frustration.

As for fans leaving, the stadium was still almost full in overtime. I only saw a few people leave and many were those with children that probably couldn't hang in there for overtime. I was really happy with the noise level at the end of the game though. Those last two possessions by the Jets were the loudest of the game.

Very justifiable booing over horrible playcalling and even worse QB play by an offense that cannot close out games. Jet WR Stephen Butterfingers Hill saved Brady and Co. yesterday. We fans and media would be having major discussions on that embarrassing Patriot 3 and out series w/ 4 mins left in the game had Hill caught that ball and put that game away for the Jets.
Once again the Patriot offense goes limp in the 4th qtr. scoring only 3 pts and only 20 for the entire game.

I agree with the OP. Team needed the crowd to be loud on defense instead of booing the offense in the 4th quarter. So many spoiled fans. I'm just happy the pats won. In my mind, there is no such thing as a bad win vs the rival jets. Let's not forget that all of the Pats vs Jets games at the blade in the superbowl years were one score games. One of those games the Jets won. Usually division games are tough.

The crowd can have an impact on the game. Those that sit quiet when noise is needed and boo when they are unhappy are not supportive. They can do whatever they want because they paid for their ticket, but it seems pretty self-centered to me.
