Mike Reiss has clearly worked hard.

he has developed some innoivative approaches to covering the Patriots and produced new innovations in reporting on players, play formations, and other stats not ever seen before, by just shear effort and digging.

Now Billl Belichick who always notes the hard workers and has rewarded him with a long interview that all the other media "Dahlinks" of the Boston Sportwriter's world would "simply die for".

I can hear wRONg Bore-gas grinding his teeth even from here in Arizona.

In addition ot rewarding his hard work, Belichick and Kraft knew that an inadvertant errant phrase or two, would not be jumped on to obviate the overall story that the interviews produced. For certain, a Felger, Borges or others would have looked long and hard for the slant and ignored the real story.

Well done Mike Reiss!! Take Bore-gas's job!!

I appreciate Reiss's work during the season, but if he's going to progress he needs to get BB to be specific on at least a couple of things.

I think we can assume BB likes it here.

Other than that, "there was some good, some bad and some all right" "We're constantly trying to improve" was the answer to every question.

EDIT: actual quote-"We had our moments. Some aspects of it were good, some aspects of it were inconsistent, some aspects of it were just flat-out not good,"

What happened in the Colts game? Does this help? Maybe ask a specific question Mike.

"We lost a tough game to the Colts, and a couple plays one way or the other could have changed that one," Belichick said. "You could pick any one of 50 things. Some bad breaks. Some were bad plays. Some were bad decisions. Just one of those games that was very winnable if any one of a number of things happened. I'm not saying we would have won, but it could have helped a lot and might have been a difference.

"At the same time, we went out there and did a lot of good things in that game. There were a lot of three-and-outs. We scored a lot. We moved the ball, played competitively in the kicking game -- returned kickoffs, covered kickoffs. In the end, there were too many plays that we really had an opportunity to make [that we didn't]."

Either that or he rewarded the reported that accepts at face value everything the Patriots organization tells him. That's like congratulating Pravda on scoring a sweet exclusive with Stalin.
I will never understand this site's Mike Reiss fetish.

This one is 4 pages longer.

He doesn't say anything else, but there are 4 more pages filled with words.
I know, but the conversation has already been started in another thread. The new interview was also already noted in that thread. Just linking the two together in case they don't get merged.

Who do you like better than Reiss? The only one who is more useful is Breer.

Very simple.

If you want INFORMATION, you read Reiss. Or Breer, or Manza-Young at Projo. They understand that they are reporters. They are not columnists.
If you want attitude and misinformation, you read the rest.

You can read the football geniuses Shaughnessy and Massarotti for entertainment. They know nothing about football (Massarotti, in particular, is embarrassingly ignorant of his newfound sport). I hear those two are also trying Do-It-Yourself home surgery kits. No thank you, I'll use a Doctor.

Mike Reiss is hard working journalist that does not have a agenda either way, he is rewarded by Belichick and Kraft by giving him news first, while Tommase has to dig around the dirt for his.. Reiss is very good and very informitive..

It may be that some of us don't like pee in our morning beverage, Reiss reports on the team without trying to fill our cups with his opinions and bitterness. Reiss also takes an interest in what interests fans, such as his formation breakdowns and offensive skill player participation analysis. There is a place for reporters and a place for opinion journalism, I find I learn more from the former's efforts, and it rarely has me thinking about another shower to remove the stench of Borges, Felger, & friends. You may liken Reiss to Pravda, but too many of the edgy journalists act like they write for the National Enquirer or worse.

I refuse to quote this idiot directly and give his words any new life, but comparing BB to Stalin?

The national media doesn't like BB because he mumbles at press conferences, dresses poorly, disses reporters, and helps keep his players from embarrassing themselves and creating controversy at the hands of those same reporters.

Do we like BB only because he wins? Not at all. He treats his players fairly, which is entirely different than paying their asking price. He pays the middle of the roster as well as the top. He's no Marvin Lewis -- you can take your rap sheet to another team.

BB is all about forging a quality high-character team as the road to winning championships and that's why we love him.

Congratulations on missing the point, changing the subject, and not knowing how to read an analogy. A three-fer! If someone says cat is to dog as kitten is to puppy, do you complain that they are comparing kittens to puppies?
Reiss states the obvious when asked for analysis, and repeats information stalely, often received directly from Pats higher-ups. He serves a role, but one should remember the source (just like when reading Borges, Felger, Ryan or anyone else) rather than canonizing him and burning all the heretics like this board often seems eager to do. (I'll try another one: If **** Chency is being interviewed on Fox News, it is hardly without merit - but I wouldn't expect any hard-hitting followups, if you know what I mean.)

I think Reiss is the only one worth reading. I'm just a little disappointed he didn't try to get an actual interview with some insight. He's paid his dues, why not ask a few tough specifics?

I'd really rather read facts than melodrama, so the other local reporters don't offer much. Tomase did write a few nice features this year.

That's different. Cheney would have you killed.

Breer seemed to come out of nowhere, but once read you know he's one of the better Boston Sports Writers out there.I was glad BSM noted him as being well-written because he is. He has no agenda.

Do you listen to BB's press conferences? DO you recognize the beart reporters voices? If not, I can understand your confusion about why some of us who have no lives beyond the Pats like Reiss. He asks football questions.

You may not like this interview, but do you see a better one out there done by anyone else?

When BB is on the big show he actually gives a little insight.

I just think Reiss could get a better "interview", (I didn't see any questions), with his access.

Let's see, I'll bet you didn't trust CNN's reporting on Iraq under Sadam, either.

And if the Rapist and his putative felon wife, was being interviewed by the media, I wouldn't expect anythng but a worship service.
