Apparently one thread is not enough, even after a win.

Please post all of your insightful thoughts, viewpoints, breakdowns, dissertations, observations, scrutiny, rants, raves, and knee-jerk reactions about the DEFENSE right here.

Have at it ... just keep in mind that anything you say can and will be used against you at a later point in time.

Is this defense better than in the past, "bend but dont break" ?

Really, Patricia & BillB needs to sit down and talk... I mean, good grief. Will
our D be near worst again by end of season?

Wide open Hill & Keller in many plays, today....

The patriots didnt win that game, the jets gave it away.

Once again the 4th qtr up 2 scores, the O couldnt seal it, and the D couldnt make a stop.

Giving up a 96 yard TD drive to Mark Sanchez is inexcusable. I keep hoping they'll improve, at times they look ok, but Christ am I tired of these 4th quarter debacles.

Other than the 92 yard TD drive, they didn't play horrendous. They had inconsistent pressure, but the coverage was miles better than the last couple of weeks. The Hightower sack in the 4th was a good showing of the DBs covering the Jets receivers.

The defense is just as inept as the offense

One of the Jets fans on my Facebook feed is whining that the Sanchez fumble should have a been an incomplete pass via the Tuck Rule. I can't remember from the replay, did he pump and then pull the ball back in?

No, tell your friend he's an idiot.

The D needs a fresh injection of outside coaching (at every level). I can't accept that so many players can collectively suck together under the tutelage of an all time great coach.

Right now, it actually looks worse than last year, even with Chandler Jones being as good as he's been.

Mark Snatchez and a bunch of JAG WR's was abusing our secondary. To say it needs work is an understatement. Interested to see if Dennard progresses and/or if Dowling can become a starter caliber CB. Hard to blame the pass rush for this one, I recall multiple plays where we did get good pressure on Snatchez and he still tossed it easily to somebody wide open. If a QB can get that comfortable against a garbage secondary, I think even a good pass rush can't neutralize that.

The run defense is fine.

Pats D (and offense) both did enough to win. Not by much, but it's a step in the right direction. Good to have Hightower back. Ninkovich makes a play at the end to seal it. INT by 7th round pick Dennard. Chandler Jones got held more and tighter than Pamela Anderson at a 1994 slow dancing competition.

A long way from great, but steps in the right direction.

the front 7 is amazing and after watching this game I have come to the conclution that Man to Man is the best way for the secondary to play they are truly horrid in zone

Belichick has gone from Defensive guru to Don Coryell in the past few years.

He has developed an offense that is hard to stop, but a defense that can't stop anyone.

He WAS once a great defensive mind and motivator ....now it's more offense that he has mastered together,he has struggled in obtaining a defensive coaching staff and drafting players on the back tier.

I would hope that next offseason Belichick cleans house on the defensive side and gets outside help with experience in these areas....I don't care if they win the SB,those guys gotta go and drafting at S and CB gotta improve as well.

Front 7 is really good and we are fantastic against the run. But this is purely based on the SKILL and the mold of our front 7 and NOT at all attributed to our defensive scheming. Why are they even allowing Spikes to drop back in coverage? That should be a crime. For one he can't cover receivers, that is not his skillset and he is not fast enough. He should always go after the QB and RB THAT IS IT. He can absolutely help bring the inside heat.

MCcourty as a rookie was primarily playing Zone and he was tremendous.....something happened to his talents.

When was the last time BB fired a homegrown coach? Dean Pees left on his own accord. I find it virtually improbabl BB firing Patricia and hiring someone else. Unfortunately.

I want more man to man coverage

umm - well Dowling made a play.

Given what we've seen.....

Start Wilson and McCourty at safety
Start Dowling and Dennard at CB
Let Arrington play the slot

Go with it and see what happens against the Rams. I'm not thrilled with McCourty as a safety, but nothing else is working.
