I was fooling around on you YouTube, when I came across this video from last year (Pats @ Skins), about the little pissing match between Brady and O'Brien after Brady missed Underwood in the endzone and got picked.

While they were going at it on the sidelines, the Skins' offense took the field, and oh boy did our pass rush (or lack thereof) sucked. I mean it's borderline emberassing...

Here's Tom Brady's *****fest With An Assistant Coach - YouTube

Glad to see we have some new weapons upfront to energize this unit. :)

weve forced more fumbles in the first 6 games than all of last year. though our interception and sack rate is lower. but iirc our sack production increased greatly in the second half last year.

Pass rush is pretty weak aside from Chandler Jones. Jones just doesn't get it, you're only suppose to get right infront of the qb and then let him slip away. You don't tackle him or knock the ball out :nono: clearly won't be a patriot very long playing like that.

Jones is a rookie who's just starting his NFL career. I'm sure as the season progresses he will pick up and improve even further. :)

I thought Ninko was doing a pretty good job opposing Jones on the other side. I think he's done a much better job at DE than at LB.

As for Jones tackling technique, I don't think he's doing much wrong. You can argue either way, which one is better (in the face of the QB or a surprise attack from the blind-spot/back to knock him or the ball down). I do however find Jones to be a little slow off the line of scrimmage. I wish he had the speed of Clay Matthews or JJ Watt. Those guys just jump off the line with absolute speed and force. Jones appears to hesitate just a fraction of a second as if to see how the LT will take on him.

I think Froob was being sarcastic.

Aside from a handful of instances this year, Ninkovich is not doing as good of a job as you're stating. The team would benefit greatly from someone (Bequette, Cunningham?) lining up opposite Chandler and wreaking havoc.

Cunningham can do some damage, I absolutely agree.

Also, in the pre-season, I thought Trevor Scott was putting some good pressure on the QB. May have gotten at least 1 or 2 sack IIRC.

How about Spikes at DE? :D

I suppose you're kidding. But, if not, then no. I like Spikes where he is.

I was kidding. I wouldn't touch the front 7, except for maybe bolstering the DE spot opposing Jones. :)

A solid pass rushing presence next to Wilfork on third down would be a welcome sight too.

This.

I've also noticed that he hesitates a tad getting off the line but it seems that sometimes he does it purposely. Not to take anything away from him, I think he's great for a rookie and the best natural pass rusher we have. I think he just needs to improve his speed a little, give em time though, he's going to do some things.

Agreed

He's got the torque of a semitrailer, and speed.... ...of a semitrailer... :)

He needs the torque of a semitrailer, and the speed of a Ferrari ;)

I agree. I'm still very disappointed the whole Jonathan Fanene thing didn't work out, he was supposed to bring a solid pass rush next to Wilfork.

Cross your fingers that Myron Pryor can finally contribute as an interior presence.

The only other possibility might be a rise in Deaderick's play, and more use in the rotational DT format.

In my opinion, those are the only 2 hopes that we have, and they aren't too high of hopes.

EDIT: Unless they put a call into G.Warren, and he can somehow offer some fresh reps and pressure down the stretch of the season + into the playoffs?

Well, if we had a shadow 54th man on this roster it'd be him for sure. We've done this with Warren seemingly the last few years. So it definitely wouldn't be a shocker if he comes back later in the year.

Oh, and wasn't Fanene's release due to injury?? Because if he ever got healthy...who knows??

It's unfortunate that for the past 4 seasons we haven't been able to put a DT of the appropriate caliber next to Wilfork :( We're one piece, an athletic interior rusher. away from having an incredibly dominant front four. I'm not saying we haven't tried, I'm just saying we haven't been able to :/

wait!!!.did I just see a "I want my Fanoony!!!!" post above????...what is this, retro all star biatchfest week or what?

That's not what I said at all. Nice try, though.
