Ok, here comes a chance for all of you objective fans to call me a blind homer. The fact is that I am critical of the team. You should hear me during the games, win or lose.

But I'm a big picture guy. I'm also one who has been a fan since the 1970 season and went to see the Patriots play at Sheaffer Stadium when Jim Plunkett was a rookie and the hope of the franchise.

I've suffered, as have manyof you though one dismal and embarrassing season after another until 2001. What has driven me to post this thead is a phase that I've been see here over the last few days and contained in the thread shown above.

Much is made of the fear teams have of Belichick's coaching. Perhaps, he need to put his arrogance aside and hire better help. Alternatively, he should spend lots of time in the trenches as secondary coach, training the coaches and the players.

I'm not taking a shot at the OP. But that word being used for BB has become fashionable lately and I just want to put in prospective what that "arrogance" has done for us fans.

Since the 2001 season 137 wins and 39 losses. 11 straight winning seasons. 9 ACFE titles. 5 AFC Championships. 3 NFL Championships.

I hope that BB stays "arrogant" if that are the results that we can expect. I don't know of any team in the salary cap FA period that has 11 straight winning seasons. The Patriots have only 2 players remaining on this team from 2004 SB team, yet we remain a contender and came one dropped pass away from the 4th NFL Championship.

Does this team have flaws? Certainly it does. Show me a team that does not.

But maybe they are right. Maybe BB is arrogant. If the results stay the same, I hope that he stays "arrogant".

Honestly, not sure what's worse. .

I endured all of it.....I endured sucky teams long before his majesties were here and I will endure plenty of them long after his majesties are gone.

one question: how many NFL coaches have won SB's more than 12 years into their time with the same team?

"I'm not taking a shot at the OP", however in essence you are taking a shot at the OP.

No I'm not. I used his post as an example how the word is being used more and more by some fans, in regards to BB.

But, thanks for telling me what I'm doing.

I'm going to guess, none. Now how many NFL coaches have coached the same team for 12 years? I'm going to guess not more than 10.

So, I guess your pointis that it's time for BB to go or am I misreading?

Wow, and then you edit Jose's perfectly valid reply, that this post could have been made in the original thread, but for some reason you think you deserve a bigger soapbox. I think the word pathetic was in there, too.

Obvously you miss the bigger point.

And,yes I did edit "Jose" post. But I won't edit yours.

If you have a comment on the point of the thread, if you understand it, please do so.

BTW: Here is another thread with the same wording:
http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/10/956447-million-dollar-question.html

I do know that this team is not invincible and you cannot play football games as if the other team has zero chance to do anything. We're a very good team. Potentially a great team. But not so great that we can play with that level of arrogance against a defense like Seattle's.

Is there something being said on WEEI or Felger & Mazz that is causing the phase to be used?

Leave him alone. Mod on mod crime...interesting.

Actually as mg's threads go that was a pretty good one. It's the miserable malcontents it attracted in response that should be Nut's taking a shot at targets...

Somewhere between Nuts and mg's points of view lies the truth.

I guess then you have a problem with the word "arrogant".

I prefer to use the word "fallible" especially when it comes to recent player personnel maneuvers:

Trades

Chad "Ochostinko" Johnson
Albert "Fat Man" Haynesworth

Unrestricted Free Agents

Jonathan "Arthritic Knee" Fanene
Trevor "No Pass Rush" Scott
Steven "Meh" Gregory

Ok, I changed the thread title to make it clear what it is being asked. Because I don't understand what is "arrogant" about the way BB coaches.

I posted another thread with the same wording as it applies to BB. So, not I was not taking any shot at Mg or the other poster. Just using their post as an example.

This is an entirely different topic than Mg's thread.

No, BB is not arrogant, that's part of the narrative used by sports media to push a certain view that sells. Being a coach involves constant gambling - on personnel, plays, etc. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, but there's nothing arrogant about it.

I believe I've read some posts where you either state, or at least make a thinly veiled insinuation that Belichick has made some bad decisions lately. Both of the short term, in game kind, and of the big picture, lasting effect kind. Just wanted to give you a kudos for being a long time veteran poster that is not a blind homer. Not a volatile poster the other way either. Definitely refreshing, so thank you for aiming criticism when necessary, regardless of the person's stature, where others won't.

Don't have a problem withthe word "arrogant", other than how it applies to BB.

Has he made mistakes in personnel over the years? Yes he has and will admit it. Has he been right more than wrong in drafting and FA singnings? Yes, he has and his record proves it.

So again, how does the word "arrogant" apply to BB and his coaching?

Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, but there's nothing arrogant about it.
Arrogant no but definitely "obsessive" when it comes to tight end acquisitions this year. ;)

How about Stubborn, or Set in His Ways, instead of Arrogant.

Fact is only he would really know. I'm leaning towards no because he did bring in Dom Capers, a high profile defensive assistant, in 2008 and brought back JMD last year instead of continuing the promote from within approach. 2 former HC's. I think the moves/lack of moves is him doing what he thinks is best for the team's success.

He doesn't strike me as arrogant. Though it's obvious why the likes of Mazz call him that. He's just pissy that Belichick doesn't get all buddy-buddy with the media. Tony is as transparent as they come. He hates it when anyone slights the sports media, as if they deserve some kind of respect. I find it hilarious. Guy is an uber-douche.

I think there are posters on this board that blow Belichick away in the arrogance department. Seriously, these guys are never wrong.
