I think I forgot just how good Manning is. I wish we could close a game like that. Wow.

We haven't even played the 49ers and Texans yet, and Jets have. I am not feeling very hopeful right now about the rest of our season.

What we need to fix:
a) Secondary coaching needs to be fundamentally changed, with a focus on looking for the ball.
b) Offensive play calling and clock management, in tight situations has been abysmal.
Both of these are strongly based on coaching....

At least our defense isn't THAT bad.

Re: Broncos down 24-0 at half, come back to win

Your thread title is misleading. This isn't about Manning. It's another opportunity to complain about the Pats.

Re: Broncos down 24-0 at half, come back to win

Yeah, where are those posters saying being up by 17 against Manning in the 4th quarter was a "huge" lead? The Broncos did a great job. They kept on playing, never gave up, and took advantage of every opportunity to win a game they had no business winning. Maybe some players around here should watch the tape.

Re: Broncos down 24-0 at half, come back to win

Broncos didn't come back because of Peyton Manning. They came back because of Philip Rivers.

Re: Broncos down 24-0 at half, come back to win

WTF is with the thread title and then what you go on to write?

Re: Broncos down 24-0 at half, come back to win

pretty sure that carter guy was on the pats practice squad a couple years ago. guess we didnt keep him because he turned his head too much.

joking, but he did play very well, and thats proof that guys can be coached up. whereas it seems our players are coached down.

sd didnt even deserve the 24-0 lead

17 points were off denver mistakes

the score of tonights game without turnovers would have been 14-7 denver

Re: Broncos down 24-0 at half, come back to win

San Diego didnt score a single point in the second half, San diego's offense lost the game for them, Rivers had a bigger hand in the Broncos win than Manning did, and please o please change the title of your thread

Close out the game like what ? Spot a 24 pt lead and then come back ? Broncos have made 3 tries and finished one comeback , is that what you want the pats to do ?

Can Rivers even make a throw over 20 yards?, i mean ESPN Sprotsscience should do a piece on his throwing motion, he pulls his arm back 5 cms and then hopes to throw it down the field, how is that even possible????

The chargers board is in flames right now, i dont remember seeing that fanbase as mad as they are right now (maybe a few months back when it was announced that their GM and Coach would be back for this season)

Re: Broncos down 24-0 at half, come back to win

Yes some of you noticed this was a bit of a free association thread, though it all comes back to the Patriots here, no? A bit of a chicken little reaction on my part? Yes.

Obviously, we have had some great comebacks. Last year against Miami. This year against the Bills.

But, recently, how many close games have we won in the last 5 minutes of the fourth quarter? Versus how many where people say "Well, we only lost by X points" and start adding up how many points we lost by in all our games?

That's the perennial arithmetic of the loser squad that can't hold their crap together. The 2007 Ravens, for instance.

Winners look at W-L, losers and their fans count points in losses, add up stats in losses, and quibble about details (see my Brady quote).

I don't want to be that. I want to say, Yes, we can close a game. I want teams to be scared of being down to us with 4 minutes to go. Not confident they can just lob a few up and take it back from us because our secondary is so inept. Not confident that they will get an easy 3 and out because of McDaniels' conservative play calling, or Brady's recent tendency to see ghosts in high pressure situations.

Do I wish we had Manning (either one) at the helm? No. Do I want us to get our s*it together with these problems that have been haunting us for years now? YES.

the last 2 seasons it's overthrown or underthrown rarely in stride

yeah i don't know what happened to the guy......

we're both 3-3 but oh how i'd trade the chargers for the pats this year even with that secondary

This year the AFC is playing like NFC west of the past decade

i think the nfc is going to completely shred whoever reps the afc in the sb

LOL,nice one. Im over there sometimes, it was pretty hot when Brees was in the SuperBowl.

Re: Broncos down 24-0 at half, come back to win

I don't want to be that. I want to say, Yes, we can close a game. .

I hear closing a game a lot, and Im not sure how important that is as oppose to game management. I mean its nice to have a Brady that can do a 2 minute drill, but ultimately you never want to be in that situation.

Good play calling, time management, flawless route running, strategic blocking, and a number of other things I might put before "Closing a game".
Because if you do those things you don't have to come from behind and win in 2 minutes.
3 and outs bother me because it keeps the other offense hot. Ints bother me. Bad blocking killing a run game bothers me. Bad WR/TE routes bother me and lead to Ints.

I dont think the problem with the Pats is Brady's ability to do a 2 minute drill. Im sure he is very capable. Now when WR's are dropping passes with a few minutes left in a SB, then you find the real problem. (and I don't mean welker, that was a tough pass to catch). I think its the little things that lead you to being behind with a minute on the clock...not what happens in that minute .

If you keep coming from behind in the last few seconds against ok teams, like the Falcons are doing, well something is wrong, not write. Ultimately you might be in the playoffs, but your going to get killed buy solid teams. Got to fix the little things.

I don't care if we win in the 1st, 2nd. 3rd or 4th qtr as long as we get the W. When we came back and blew out the Bills a poster actually said "yeah but we still struggle in close games" as if we should have kept it close just to say we did so.

There's no way to lose a game or multiple games that makes me feel good inside. If it's a low scoring game, the offense stunk, if it's high scoring the defense stunk, If they played good in the fourth but lost it was to little to late.

Is there a way anyone here would prefer to lose? getting blown out in a rout, last minute nail biter? IDK, can't think of any right now. I've actually heard many people say they prefer getting blown out over a close game, lol, not sure I'm down with that.

What the hell happened to Rivers?

Wasn't it three or so years ago he was considered one of the upper tier QBs?

I thought he was better than Eli, Schaub, etc. Now the guy's barely average, if even that.
