I'm curious to know what Pats fans think of Steve Smith.I'd love to see him in a NE uniform 1 day.I think he's the only big name WR that would fit perfectly in the Pats locker room. What do you do you guys think?

Not sure about the lockeroom but he's a perfect fit as a WR. He's everything Branch thinks he is. He's similar but stronger and can beat double teams way better than Branch.

um amazing?

Much Faster than Deion
Quicker than Deion
Better Hands Than Deion
Stronger than Deion
Bigger Playmaker than Deion
C ockier than Deion
Funner to Watch than Deion
Actually backs all the talk he does on the field, unlike Deion in Seattle who talks nonstop and only gets 30 per game

I'm not a big steve smith fan at all...although if he was a Patriots i'd rethink my opinions on him. If he kept his mouth shut a bit more, I could deal with him on the field.

As a football player, he'd be an amazing pick-up...but I don't see this is as a very likely option at all.

If you are saying Steve Smith would be like Welker or Welker would be like Smith if he were on NE, I can't agree with you. Smith is a special player. I thought that he was the best football player on earth in 2005.

If you are pimping Welker as a possible guy for NE to sign, bring it on. :rocker:

Sorry, I don't think Smith would thrive here though. Biggest reason: Have you ever heard the guy talk? He can hardly put together a coherent sentence. It seems to me that what he does in Carolina is pretty damn simple; seems like half of his routes are deep balls that Delhomme blindly hucks up to him. I don't think he would grasp the system very well, and I don't think he would feel too good about being considered no more important than anyone else. Then again, he could be a great slot guy to just run straight down the field all the time :D

I am not exactly Steve Smith's favorite fan. I personally think that he is a punk. But there is no escaping his greatness. The guy is a playmakah in a big way. There is not a route he can't run and he gets open even though he is the only threat on that whole team and is doubled on every snap. Also, he has some serious ball skills because he is not a big guy at all, and yet he comes down with every throw that is anywhere near him.

If Smith were on NE, every single Pats fan would declare the best WR in the league.

Would Smith even come here? He's gone on record as saying that the Patriots' Tyrone Poole spit on him during the Super Bowl, implying that we are a dirty team. He is still pretty steamed about it. I think we'd be about the last team in the NFL that he's play for.

Smith would never come here because the Cats would never let him leave.

I don't see the Panthers trading Steve Smith. He is their offensive franchise player and it will take more than two late first round picks for them to give him up.

I don't see the Pats trading for Steve Smith either. It isn't their style to trade a lot of draft picks for one player especially a WR. I think they would have paid Branch what he wanted if they were going to be willing to do what it takes to a Steve Smith.
