I'll be the replacement thread starter today; hopefully I'll be slightly more proficient than the replacement refs were.

Please post your comments, knee jerk reactions, and insightful observations both before and during today's Patriots vs Seahawks game, all on this thread.

This will be a very challenging game today. Most people consider Seattle's defense to be one of the best, if not the best in the NFL; the consensus is that CenturyLink Field is the loudest NFL stadium, making it difficult for opposing offenses to communicate effectively. At this point of the season there are no must wins games, but in the end they all count the same amount in the standings.

It's a game of strength against strength (Pats offense vs Seahawks defense; Pats passing game vs Seahawks pass rush and pass coverage; Seahawks running game vs Pats rush defense) and weakness vs weakness (Seahawks passing game vs Pats pass rush and pass coverage). Turnovers will be key, even more so than usual.

Lets hope for a good game today with no injuries.

Inactives

For the Patriots LB Dont'a Hightower, WR Julian Edelman, LB Tracy White and S Steve Gregory were ruled OUT prior to Sunday. That leaves three more players the Pats need to designate as being inactive for this game. Based on previous games I would guess that would be C/G Matt Tenant, DE Jake Bequette, and DE Justin Francis.

With the Pats thin at LB there's also a slim possibility of moving DE Rob Ninkovivh back to OLB and activating either Bequette or Francis, though I'm not sure who would be the third inactive (Shane Vereen?) in that scenario.

Reiss reporting that Vollmer is a game time decision.

This is a game when we need him ready to go, we probably see the return of the Vollmer-Cannon rotation at least.

gotta get gronkowski more involved.
i want to see some play action in the red zone! like last season. :):):)

Going over the depth charts I couldn't get over how "big" the Seahawks defense is. Biggest and tallest DB's that I can remember. Big on the DL.

May not favor a running game today. Our smurf receivers may be the answer.

GRONK fears nobody!

:D:D:D

This has all the makings to be one of the strange games like the browns two years ago.

The defense needs to put a helmet on their rookie quarterback.

Volmer.....pheeeew

Possible thread next week......Biggest drop off in talent from starter to backup that affects the team the most (excluding QB). I'm going with the Volmer to Cannon

they are big..but i don't see them being able to stop this O...and i can see our D getting stops/turnovers from wilson as he is pretty bad

Just saw this scroll on the red zone channel

Brady 24-4 against top 5 defenses

I know its nice to pimp the records, but who really cares who scores the TD?

Wish Bequette could get on the field more. Glad that Vollmer is good to go and Dennard will get to play again.

I'm feeling pretty relaxed about this game. Can't quite pinpoint why though. And by no means am I taking Seattle lightly.

I remember feeling the same way all day leading up to the SB. I couldn't explain it then either. I obviously didn't know it was going to turn out the way that it did. I just remember feeling very calm despite the outcome.

I'm not real happy about Bequette being an healthy (we assume) scratch. He was drafted to be a OLB/DE in the late 3rd round, and if he can't even dress for a game where we are missing 2 OLB's due to injury already, just when is he going to get to play.

Of all our draft picks, Bequette is the most disappointing....to date. I don't see a situation where this kid is going to make a contribution this year. That's a shame since everyone else but Ebert is doing better than we have a right to expect. That 5 out of 7 clear hits plus Bequette and Ebert who was the biggest long shot to begin with.

Hard to complain about those results, but its still not good when you've been passed by UDFA's

Time is going by so slow.

Very nervous about the oline especially if this is like the arizona game. Hopefully they hold up.
