Not that I'm that upset about it, but Edelman has been completely out of commission for some time now. That's one severe hand injury, or one typical concussion.

You'll know when Edelman is back in the lineup, as the offense will sputter and everyone will point fingers at Brady and McD.

As Welker stands on the sideline just watching.

I'm the opposite of upset about it. Every snap that Welker takes instead of Edelman makes the offense significantly better.

Whats a wide receiver supposed to do with one hand?

It obviously needs to heel fully before he can be back compared to other injuries which can be played on.

One thing that I think has gotten overlooked with this injury is how it happened? Because as far as I recall he scored a TD with about 3 seconds left in the half and was seen sprinting into the lockeroom while the rest of the team watched the ensuing kick. Assumption being he was getting something looked at and then we haven't seen him since. It would seem as though Tom Broke his hand with the throw.

That hopefully means Hightower is back.

Come on, don't be silly. At the very least Edelman is a significant upgrade over Branch, whose age is quickly showing.

Love the Hernandez news!! While watching the lightning fast no-huddle offense the Patriots got going last Sunday, I couldn't help but imagine a game in which they have Hernandez, Gronk, Welker, Lloyd and Fells on the field at the same time, being able to go 5-wide, while also having the ability to put Hernandez in the backfield and running a power ground game with two good blocking TEs on the field. Just imagine the possibilities if we have a healthy Ballard next season.

But nobody will be stickin' it in Bill's face.

...totally agree with you.. BUT ... how about using Edleman as much as posible for the "first" half of the season so Welker stays fresh for the post season. I remember Bill on "A Football Life" saying something along the lines of "Welker will get light up 8-9 times as usual"; that takes a toll on everyone

also means vollmer & mankins participated

That's all i wanted to hear Vollmer is practicing...he has played very well this year especially in the run game. I think its time to Extend Vollmer...guys his statue don't grow on trees.

Branch made a huge catch in that Broncos game, and he's serving as the 5th option generally. I don't have a problem with his play right now.

Oddly enough given his history, Edelman also makes him seem like an ironman in comparison.

I laughed. Then my heart sank.

It hasn't hurt us against the Bills and Broncos, but against some other defenses its going to be more of an issue. I would love to have either him, Hernandez or both against this Seahawk secondary. Despite that one nice catch, Branch looks like he is getting very little separation these days.

Re: hernandez practices

I bet we see AH again vs the Jets but not this week. Wouldn't be surprised if they don't want his ankle in the air for 11 hours.

Totally agree with you. I generally think of a 5th WR (especially in this offense) as a developmental guy since a veteran would pout getting 25% of snaps and 1-2 targets a game. With Branch willing to accept this role, he is the PERFECT player for this situation. Exceptional locker room guy, unique chemistry with the QB, sneaky route runner for when the defense forgets about him and clutch hands to make the catch when a throw does come his way.

To continue that line of thinking, doesn't it seem like the chemistry of the offensive players is outstanding this year. Branch accepting his role, Welker not being a PITA with reduced snaps, Lloyd's boundless enthusiasm (he was on the field helping Arrington up after the 4th quarter fumble before they even unpacked the pile). The RBs seem tight with each other regardless of who gets the snaps...even Vereen got some love after vulturing a TD in the 2nd quarter. There is only one football but everyone seems to be laser-focused on team success rather than getting their share.

I'm with you on this, which is it's going to be interesting to follow the reintegration of Hernandez and Edelman. Branch, McDonald and Fells together had just 100 snaps last week (Could have been a 282 total). In and of itself, that's not a big deal, but it's basically a full game. If that puts Hernandez in for the 94, we're looking at 6 snaps for the TE3/WR3, and I think that means that

Lloyd (91)
Gronk (94)
Welker (87)
RBs (93)

are going to have to give up snaps if the team is going to bring those players into active roles. That's even if you basically zero out Fells and Branch. It's something I think is well worth following.

It should be fun seeing if they can put an already powerful offense into hyperdrive.
