Offensive QB last year, defensive QB this year. The Texans just can't catch a break.

At least they have that beast JJ Watt who will try and make up for the loss.

It's a big loss, but their D is all about the schemes - they'll still be one of the best in the league.

He knew as he was walking off last night. Tough for him to miss what could be a breakthrough year for that team.

Wish him well in his surgery and rehab. Hate to see a dirty, scrub team pull crap like this to a team with legit SB aspirations.

That POS Jets player should be suspended for the year.

That sucks - Watt will pick up the slack. I loved him after the game when he said, "You're not going to throw it over my head". That kid is a beast and must be accounted for at all times. I suspect this D will get better after losing a leader.

This, so far, is my favorite post on the subject, and it comes from Gang Green:

"... Cushing gets injured on an unlucky play where Slauson was trying to hit him in the waist ..."

Slauson should be suspended for the remainder of the season since it was a blatant cheap shot. Of course, Roger Goodell, who claims to be a "champion of player safety", won't do a damn thing about it since Slauson is a Jets player.

so the question becomes, does this change the balance of power in the AFC?

Never good news to hear a premier playing going down with a season ending injury. My condolences to Cushing and the Texans. Slauson should receive a hefty fine at the very least if not some length of suspension for the cheap shot that ended Cushing's season.

Umm, you don't get better after losing a top player. Talent is talent. Imagine if the Pats lost Mayo for the season, *knock on wood*, that would NOT make the defense better. Players need to step up for the Texans for sure to pick up the slack but they will be missing a very talented defender who played a big part of what makes their defense great.

Schaub,Tate,Foster,Watt,Joseph and about 20 other talented guys on that team will not let their SB hopes derail, despite a high character team guy gone.

They will continue to be a load to beat all year.

He probably won't be punished and I would be furious if I were a Houston fan. Depending on how you look at it, there are only two explanations for that hit from Slauson: dangerous negligence or intent to injure. Manslaughter or murder. Either one deserves a significant punishment.

I wouldn't have been surprised to see Spikes suspended for a game for his hit on Chandler...but this is in a whole different stratosphere. If Slauson escapes without suspension, what is stopping players from doing the exact same thing multiple times in a game. If I'm backed up at my own 2 yard line on first down, take a whack at the knee of a DT. Even if it is called, lose a yard and replay the down. Take a shot at the knee of the other DT. Lose another 18 inches and replay. Run up the middle of the replacement DL and get out of bad field position.

If the league won't put an end to it, the players will take it into their own hands. After the bounty-gate nonsense in NO, that should be the last thing the league wants to happen.

Sucks... But good for us!

Injuries are apart of the game. Hernandez this year. Carter last year. Welker the year before.

I'm more pissed that Cedric Benson is out, cause the packers play Houston Next. We need the packers to win that game.

Foster will get injured this year. No doubt. He always does. The guy isn't strong or weigh enough to last a full year.

Chandler Jones better watch his knees in 2 weeks...they may have bulls eyes on them.

When you have a team with dwindling talent and you want to make the playoffs to save your jobs, you will do desperate things.

The Jets are indeed a dangerous team...but not on the scoreboard

We'll see, but I bet there is not a huge drop-off. Loads of talent on that team on both sides of the ball and the D will rally around their fallen leader. Cushing is a great player - and I did not say they would be better (whoops - I actually did) - but they are deep and will be fine. They are better with Cushing, but again, the overall fall off will not change much for them.

Wow, better be careful when we play the Jets. That **** was mad shady and I hope for action to be taken.

Tough break for Houston, this is the 2nd year in all their existence that they have a team good enough to go the distance and the both seasons they've had at least 1 devastating injury. Last year they lost Mario, Shaub, AND Andre for most of the season.
