Patriots travel nearly 13,000 miles for the next month (NFL record?)

Is this a record travel schedule for an NFL team?

You have to wonder if all this travel will affect the team within the next 3 games.

If my geography and mileage is correct,the Pats between this weekend and the by the time they get to the bye week will have traveled a bit over 10,000 miles by the time they land in London and 13,000 miles after returning to Foxboro and the bye week.

To and from Seattle ...about 6,100 miles
To and from London ..about 6,500 miles

I would think most teams don't travel that many miles in a whole season!

Thank heavens for the bye week,I think 90% of the team will have severe Jet lag

As of next Sunday the Pats will have already played half of their road games. Three of their first four games were on the road; they now add to that making a trip across three time zones, for their fourth road game in six weeks.


When the schedule was first set I saw the cumulative amount of early travel as possibly being a factor in the game at Buffalo (third away game in 22 days) or more likely at Seattle (fourth away game in 36 days; three time zones; possibility of a letdown after playing Manning and the Broncos). At the time many scoffed at the idea of a loss to the Seahawks, but considering those factors plus the Seattle defense, plus the loudness of their stadium, and it's not unrealistic at all.


Regarding the following game against St. Louis, even though it is indeed yet more lengthy travel for the Pats I do not think that should work against them. Yes, there is the factor of all that cumulative travel; on the other hand the Pats have less miles to go than the Rams do to get to London, they have experience playing there, and there will be more Pats fans than Rams fans at Wembley.


The bye week will come at a good time for the road warriors.

I just don't think that the schedule maker should have a team jet far west and then far east 2 weeks later,thats quite a toll.

The Seattle trip should have been nowhere near the trip to London in that short of time frame....I would bet the team was not crazy about the schedule,hopefully the stop at home with the game against the Jets gives them a little reprieve between flights.

The Bye Week comes at a good time,though.

Remember that schedule mess in 2008 which sent the team on a multiple game trip out west?.....that was bad too.
