Is this game a win-win for this team and fan base?

Scenerios........

The Texans destroy the Jets and win .......You see the continued demise of a franchise and it's head coach live on national TV,you may see the benching of the GQ glamour boy in favor of the modern son of God,you see the Jets sink to the bottom of the AFCE and an offense that becomes the laughingstock of the league.

The Jets shock the Texans and win.......A Jets win keeps them temporarily in the AFCE race and give Rex new hope but also puts the AFC Conference closer and up for grabs as the only unbeaten AFC foe goes down and all real contenders like NE and Baltimore move a game closer

Is it better to see the Jets or Texans win?

If you look down the line, this game might mean the difference between a bye week or wild card game since Houston is in charge of its destiny early in the season

No one thinks NY can do better than 6-8 wins anyway,so does it really matter regarding the division?

My opinion says that since the Jets have virtually no chance to win this division,we might as well hope the AFC dominant team in Houston slips down a peg.

The division always comes first. I want the jets to lose.

Everyone should be rooting for the Jets to implode on national television. The pats will have a chance to give the Texans a L and earn the tiebreaker later in the season.

No Contest. Jets loss always is better than anything unless their win means we clinch something . All these homefield and seeding standings are useless after 4 games. Look at baltimore last 2 games. They are as inconsistent as they come.
plus...hard to root for the jets ..tried once when they played AFCCG vs the colts but could not. Thats it.

It's hard to root for either team...to be honest

One part of me wants desperately to see Rex and his clowns get totally embarrassed on national TV

The other side of me wants to see the team that most people are calling a complete team, fall apart and show that the AFC is once again going to be wide open knowing the Jets aren't going anywhere, anyway.

I like it better when the Jets think they can't win.

as for houston, they'll screw things up somehow.......because that's what they do until they stop doing it

I'll be the Devil's advocate.......

Long term, a Texans loss is probably a better thing for us as I have know doubt we'll school the Jets twice later in the year. The more teams ahead of us in the AFC that drop games they should easily win, the better our chances for HFA later in the year.

Do not get me wrong, I will NOT cheer for a Jets win and will celebrate their likely loss when it happens, I'm just saying....... We all know they suck, and if they get lucky and trip up a VERY good Texans team, I won't loos sleep on it.

There are two other options:

1. Tie after five quarters

2.

The Jets are not competitive for the division.
But they won't be competitive in this game either, so its kind of moot.

If the Texans were to come out and make dozens of game changing unforced errors and the Jets got a lucky win, that would be a great thing.

But for sheer entertainment value, an as expected blow out of the hapless Jets would be nice too.

I agree with you, and I was concerned about the possibility of the Rats getting a top 10 (or higher). They were looking like a potentially bad team before the season started and it is coming to fruition with a vengeance.

There is no worry about the Rats competing for anything in the AFC east except the cellar. When they play the Pats we should be rooting for the "farmer's wife to cut off their tails with a carving knife", otherwise we should be rooting for a rodent victory.

It seems , and feels, counterintuitive and dirty, but if you read the Rat boards, many, if not most of their fans are rooting for losses and a high draft pick that will make a difference for them.

Wins is something that the Rats do NOT want, so if they win a few they will be mediocre and miserable, and that is a gr8 combination.

I dont know if I'll even bother watching this one. Hate watching games where I don't want either team to win. Could be interesting at least if Tebow gets to start but doesn't sound like he will.

With the way things look in the AFCE, it might be tempting to want a Houston Loss, but I'd rather get that much closer to locking up the AFCE as quickly as possible.

Seeing the NJ jets fall apart on national TV is just to good to pass up. Plus my brother lives in NJ and I can't root for a team that puts him through a week of making an obnoxious fan base THAT much more obnoxious.

I think if an upset is going to happen there is no chance of The Jets outplaying Houston...because simply the talent between these two teams is so far apart it's amazing.

The only way the Texans lose tonight is if they beat themselves by making mistakes and gift wrapping the game to NY.....

I see a 24-10 Texans victory, closer than some think but it won't be as close as the score might look.

If it stays close I'll want the Texans to lose (note the wording here!)... if it isn't competitive by the second half then I'll be rooting for a blowout and a Tebow appearance for laughs.

There's nothing better than to go on JI and see all the posters lose their minds because of the Jets. I'm looking forward to it. :)

Part of me hopes it's 95-0 Texans tonight, that they squash the green slime, and then the media pumps up the Texans as the greatest ever, until they lose, and then we also take care of them on Dec10.

Then part of me also wants the Rex Ryan era in NY to last forever, since

1) it is entertaining in a pathetic sort of way; and
2) it isn't going to ever allow the Jets to compete with the Patriots

some conflicts,

but I need to stick to my principles.

F the Jets.
95-0 here we come.

The Jets are the gift that keeps on giving. They are by far the most entertaining team in the NFL.....Monday-Saturday. Microwave your popcorn....because we got some serious rubbernecking ahead. Call Denzel....because an impending train wreck of epic proportions is now upon us.

I expect a beat down just like SF did to the Jets.

Next two weeks are interesting for Houston however. They get GB and Baltimore at home. The hope is the Packers can beat them but really GB has been a mediocre at best team this year. However at 2-3 they're going to be desperate and they do catch the Texans on a short week, if they aren't playing the scrubs after halftime. The week after I think Pats fans have to root for the Texans with the hope of bringing Baltimore back to the pack since we're down the tie breaker to them. Then we have to beat Houston later in the season.

The Jets don't appear to be capable of winning games and taking the division. Heck, they might even come in last.

With that said, a win means they end up with a lower draft pick and puts the hurt on the top ranked team in the conference. As you said it's a win either way, but a jets win serves multiple purposes.

We'll be entertained by their demise one way or another. A win might give them extra bluster to fall even farther/faster down the road :D.

The Jets hate runs deep on this site. There really isn't any logical reason to root for the Texans tonight.

Not that fan "rooting" matters, and the Texans are likely to win. But you have one team that won't make the playoffs and isn't a threat, and another that the Pats are trailing for homefield advantage (still an important component of playoff success if you're not the Giants).
