I feel pretty good about what Dennard can bring to the table, even after just limited playing time. I've lost a lot of faith in McCourty recently but Dennard is a breath of fresh air. He actually turned to see where the ball was being thrown! Depth in the secondary is important but he may be a productive starter some point, or at least I can hope.

I am going to remain cautiously optimistic about Dennard. This is the first game he's played in the league. We've seen people flash before only to disappear. With all that said, the kid played a brilliant game. He looked like our best defender in the secondary. He stuck with his man, turned and looked for the ball, and then he made plays on the ball. Also, he tackled very well. I hope that he continues on this path.

You know...its amazing...we have to celebrate a CB TURNING and LOOKING for the f'in ball!!!....I am with you in your loss of faith in mccourty......he gets burned more times than a four hour old piece of charcoal!.....but get used to him.....he'll b here all year!

Exciting prospect. First round talent with character issues. He can play

Haha i was just thinking this.

To be fair everything I've read is that his run-in with the police was out of character for him. At least this is what I read his college teammates saying.

It doesn't take much to get hit with 'assaulting an officer' if you run into the wrong cop.

:D so true.

True... Some cops will search you without reason or consent and if you resist, even slightly they will slap you will an assault charge. A felony.

I blame the DB coach for the secondary issues. Please get Ty Law or Rodney Harrison or someone that is actually good to rectify this situation.

I like what we've seen from Dennard so far, and I think that he can be a very solid pickup in this yr's draft in the future.

As far as his legal charges go, I'd be shocked to not see a plea bargain coming with an agreement for a lesser charge.

It won't be too big of a deal, I would bet anything on it.

Glad to see that Belichick did not limit himself as others did worrying about an out of character charge for a college kid. The talent seems to be there in my opinion, and there shouldn't be any character concerns--especially on this team.

Maybe the coaches will set him straight after they see the gme film.

Seriously, has any reporter ever asked BB if this thing we all keep seeing — DBs not turning for the ball - if that's how they coach 'em? Certainly he knows way more football than I or most of us will ever know; I'm just curious what he philosophy is.

Great to see my binky perform (and well, I might add!) :)

It's an encouraging start to his career, hopefully he keeps improving and seeing the field more.

It would be a big boost for this defense if Dennard turns out to be the real deal.

He is not playing scared, but once the coaches get to work with him, he will soon play with this back to the ball.
But I have hope in this guy that he is stubborn not to listen to any stupid secondary coaching.
Can they sign Ty Law to help these guys out in watching film?
What makes me mad is being in position and not making a play. I can live with being beat. But if you are in position and could have made a play, there is no excuse to allow a completion or get a PI on you.

I thought Ras-I would be my binky #2 ( Bolden is my #1) but Dennard looks like he belongs ! :rocker:

looked much better than mccourty

Glad to see Dennard looking pretty good in his first real NFL reps. HOpefully we work him in for more reps and he can play his way up the depth chart. Competition is good and if Dennard beats out Moore for nickeback reps, that's a GOOD thing! *thumbs up*

the "wrong" officer wouldn't have had an opportunity to slap the assault charge on Dennard if Dennard wasn't fighting with another man at 2:15 AM outside a bar to a degree that resulted in police intervention.

Darius Butler rookie season: turned and looked for the ball
Devin McCourty rookie season: turned and looked for the ball
Alfonzo Dennard rookie season: is turning around and looking for the ball

Surely it's a coaching issue! Players aren't just going to decide "oh I'll not try and play the ball anymore"
