Wow.

Cassel has a noodle arm and is at best a back up qb.

Brady is a classic thrower with a picturesque throwing motion, great zip on his throws and reads defenses at lightning speed.

Can you imagine if we let Brady go in favor of Cassel?

nope..don't remember anyone saying that..ever..at all

Those were the Ravens and Jets fans in disguise, No pats fan in his/her right mind would ever think of replacing Brady with Casl

You serious. There was a big debate amongst fans on whether to keep Cassel because he was solid in 2008 over Brady who was coming off of a knee injury.

Hold on a minute now! Did people actually say that?!?!?

Not real or actual fans..but the trolls...so no...no "real" pats fans said that

Yeah I remember this, what a joke. Cassel did well in 2008 and had one good season in KC. TFB is a future hall of famer, arguably the GOAT at his position. Anyone who thought that, isn't a true Patriots fan. You can argue that Brady has been better since his ACL injury than he was before.

Sorry, I don't pay attention to people like that.

I would like to see proof of any Pats fan ever stating that opinion.

Stupid thread.....

The only fans who wanted Cassell and to trade Brady were fans from the other 31 teams :bricks:

Don't think it's a stupid thread. While most people favored TFB, some DID talk of keeping Cassel. Some of the reasons : (1) Brady injury (2) age difference (3) being able to score much more via trade if trading Brady.

I never wanted them to keep Cassel, but some did... and, something tells me he wins more games if he had stayed in NE.

Tom Brady is a HoFer. Cassel was a very good player when surrounded by an amazing cast.

Numbers vary, but even if you take the lowest conservative estimate, about 1% of the populace is mentally ill. Numbers go as high as 20% or more if you start estimating undiagnosed illnesses.

An interesting side-note being the consensus among the the top mental health experts that the highest concentration of dysfunctional mental illness in the United States has a focal center around New York. I could be wrong, but I believe the experts simply assume any Jet or Giant fan are in fact mentally ill and broadly classify them as simply functioning on non-functioning.

;)

Patriot fans, unfortunately, are human and not immune to the 1 in 100 effect.

I remember sports-radio back then. There were PLENTY of callers all calling to keep Cassel and get rid of Brady.

Guaranteed they were all Red Sox fans first and football fans second.

Apparently there is a lot of revisionist historians posting in this thread, there was a solid 25% of people on this board who thought keeping Cassel and trading Brady for a King's ransom was the way to go. I wasn't one of them but to say there wasn't a serious debate is nonsense, especially after Brady had all those setbacks with infections etc.

Agreed. It was not a "we want to trade Brady" thread, but more of a what could we get for Brady thread and keep Cassel. I posted a consideration of a trade to the 49'ers for their LB (Patrick Willis), #1 pick and Detroits #! (which turned out to be Suh). We would have a stout defense, but things are looking up with our defense.

In Cassel's defense he's had to deal with multiple offensive systems and coordinators, and has also played behind a garbage O-line and has receivers that seem to think their job is to juggle the football. If you wanted to completely ruin a potential QB then that's pretty much the perfect recipe.

The only revisionist is you.

I call utter BS on "25%" of posters were clamoring to trade Brady.

Well..there are a lot of posters STILL on this board who would want BB and brady replaced after a loss or after some failed 3rd downs. So its not a surprise some people thought that way.
