Throwing a feeler out there for all you Yanks invading from across the pond this month for the International Series game.....

I'm one of the moderators on UKPatriots and last time around we had a flag football game with a rival fan club of the Buccaneers. There's no such fan club over here for the Rams sadly so whilst planning the same event ths year, I had a little brain wave.

We will be havng a little tourney solely between the UKPatriots fan club however, we wouldn't mind making things interesting...so how about a potential 'Old England Vs New England' flag football game somewhere during the course of it?

The event is likely to be held on Saturday 27th October, the day before the game, at a central London location (Regents or Hyde Park are being tossed around) and some time in the morning...likely late morning as most will be nursing hangovers ;)

This is just a bit of a feeler so nothing is set in stone but, if we get enough guys interested who will be there on the day, it can happen.

Last time around we had the mascot and cheerleaders there so there's some incentive to show up ;) (see my avi for one of the pics taken from that day)!

If you are coming over and are up for this, drop me a reply here, a message or an email ([email protected]) and we can think about making it happen!

There are a few guys our end, including myself, who have played before...so hopefully we can provide decent competition!

I hope there are no replacement refs for this one :)

We're potentially using English refs who referee in our leagues over here...so some may call it a bit of a fix :p

That is a great idea. I wont be making the trip but I seriously cant see why us Yanks would pass up an offer to give you guys some on-field pointers as to how the American version of your rugby game is played.

However, I would avoid having you show us how those scrums really work because the fear might be that it gets a little too friendly, and touchy, in that quagmire of bodies all wrapped around each other.

I am not sure how to get the word out but this forum is probably the best place to advertise it. Maybe the admins and mods can give you a sticky thread for a few weeks.

you guys, over there across the pond, are some of the most knowledgeable NFL fans outside of the USA. In fact, perhaps even more knowledgeable than some of us IN the USA. I admire your sheer passion for the game. I have met some of you, in the past, on your trips here, to the colonies.

ENJOY THE GAME...

This is going to be real football right. Not that crap you call football that is really soccer.

Awesome! Great idea. Sounds like a blast. Good luck. Post some pics here.

Oh absolutely! I've always preferred 'real' football to soccer ever nice I first saw the sport!

I read the whole thing in my best English accent to my wife, she wouldn't concede the funds for even a kayak, nevermind two of them.

Any chance we can get a Rounders league started over here the next time you visit? We've tried the Soccer thing, it just won't take. The kids and their moms seem to like it though.

IF this were last year, I would have taken it up. I was in Cambridge for 2 months for work. Maybe I can sabotage the customer and get another free trip.

You should be breathing a sigh of relief that I can't make the trip, UK.

I'd be dodging..ducking..slipping through your defense, putting up 50+ pts all by myself.

It'd be completely unfair, and my incredible skills would put the whole city of London to shame.

Instead I'll be here in the US, chain smoking, stuffing my face with chips and sitting on the couch ;)

Consider yourself lucky. They'd have taken that statue of Urlacher down and put mine up as a replacement.

Thankfully for you monarchists I'm now a geezer retired from football. Otherwise I'd paint half my face blue and dissect your defense surgically in a very Brady/Flutie like manner while screaming "Freedom!"

Of course afterwards you guys would eviscerate me.

Can't make it...family concerns keep me tethered to southern New England...but I have two nephews that want to take you up on your generous offer....the day before the game just go to Heathrow and the British Airways terminal...have the agent page Moose and Rocco....Boun Appetito!!!

At least we play 'FOOTball' with our feet!! :D

Soccer is a brilliant game, loved the world over!

Im starting to like Grid Iron more than soccer though!! :verycool:

Çome on man! How can you put Brady and flutes in the same sentence??! As for the football...unfortunately I'm with you. I could tear an ACL putting my pants (or britches as they say in England) on at this point!!!!

You could always play a 2 half match, one half football and the other 'soccer'!

Make it really England vs New England!

When I was with my local american football team we play the rugby team where we trained and played at Flag Football and Tag Rugby! Won both games!

Also, could we organise a PatsFans drink on the Saturday night? The UKPatriots pre game party is going to be full and I would have thought most will need more than 1 ticket!
