Its hard to take, but I think its more about that football season is over.. Bill Belichick was right , its like a plane crash, no way to soften it when its coming .. I was depressed after I read the pro jo article, but also that I enjoy the whole super bowl experience, the media day, all the hype and hoopla.. And nothing beats it when your team is in it.. But it also sucks when your team is not.. So that is a little disheartning.. But I read Felger and Callahan, and we did win with some wierd talent, and that is because we have the best coach in modern time.. And the best QB did all he could , he just failed for the first time in the postseason at the end.. We will be back, I know it as long as Brady and Belichick are together.. The colts /pats rivalry is not going anywhere any time soon.. Lets hope we get younger at LB, a good playmaker for Brady, and we still keep our secondary in tact.. We will be back NFL, we will be back..

I've decompressed, about 48 hours later. I only went to work about 4 hours the last two days. Had some vacation time saved up. Took the kids to school, watched the Senior Bowl practices. Relived all those damn game changing plays. Now I'm ready to go back to real life full time starting at 5am tomorrow.

This is my first trip back to this site. I haven't read one sports article, visited one sports site or watched one sports show since the game.

I couldn't do it, it hurt to much. I am getting better, but it still makes me feel sick when I think about what happened.

The pats have had a great run and I will always remember this fondly. I don't want to read all of the negative stories from the media.

I'm starting to get over it now. I'm even revisiting the whole "I won't watch the super bowl" thread. Don't get me wrong, I still will only pay real attention when the commercials are on but I'm at least considering going to the party to spend time with friends and eat good food.

Am I feeling better? Yes
Am I feeling all better? No.

I still find myself thinking, at various times when my mind wanders such as while driving the car or trying to go to sleep at night, how close we were, how we had immortality in our grasp, and how we let it slip away.

In case you missed it, I wrote in detail about how this feels here: http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/showthread.php?p=315179

I don't think I've ever felt worse after any game, in any sport, in my life.

However, not to beat a dead horse, but I , also, believe that if we dont get rid of Josh McDaniels as OC, all we gain will be down the toilet. He just wont get it done in the NFL. Sorry, thats how I feel, and I believe I am right.

Good situation to be in - Pats win and you're happy they won, Pats lose and you're happy because you can blame McDaniels

Seems for a guy who "can't get it done", he put together an impressive season for his FIRST YEAR as Offensive Coordinator at the young age of 30: Made the AFC title game and his offense averaged 27 ppg in 3 postseason games, 7th in scoring, high-pct red zone offense, resurrected the passing game from the clusterf**k that it was early in the season, etc.

I wonder how Cam Cameron is now HC with the Dolphins? He never "got it done" in San Diego, not even a title game appearance with the Chargers. Did Charlie Weis "get it done" in his first year as OC? Nope.

If you want somebody more deserving of criticism it's Dean Pees. Do we just take for granted that his defense gave up 5 consecutive scoring drives totalling 28 points and wonder why the Pats didn't score more? I've been impressed with Pees' work this season but his D blew it Sunday. The Pats may have stood 4 yards from victory but the Colts stood 80 yards from victory and marched into the endzone easily with little resistance from our D.

That's a little bit of a stretch - we had a good shot to make the SB this year, that is all. We shouldn't be any more disappointed than Saints fans at this point.

I am not sure I agree with you. We lost a chance at getting 4 superbowls in 6 years. While maybe not imortality, in the football world, it would have been a big deal.

I believe a loss like this will be a driving force for improving our deficiencies, especially the lack of depth and speed at LB. Even though we improved as a team from '05, as far as the AFC goes, we haven't made progress in the standings or improving our chances at another Lombardi (4 seed, no HFA or first round bye). This team simply can't expect to win at home (without a bye) and roll through 2 tougher, more rested teams in their stadiums on the way to the SB.

The Pats need to get back to gunning for HFA, and this means knocking off the AFC's best head-to-head like in 2003-04. Our record against winning AFC teams outside the division (during the last 2 regular seasons) is 1-6. A 5-9 2005-06 reg season record against winning teams overall. This isn't good enough and the Pats pay for it on the road in the playoffs.

Well said.

I don't think it is a stretch at all to say that had we won 4 Super Bowls in 6 years we would have reached football immortality - obviously not in the literal sense but in the commonly used sense meaning an achievement which will forever be remembered.

Had we beaten the Colts we would have had at least a 75% chance of beating the Bears, IMHO, and thus achieved that immortality.

By the way, did you even read the long post which I cited in the post you replied to? I think it makes the case pretty well.
