Bills DT Kyle Williams Fined For Roughing Tom Brady

Not sure if this was mentioned already,
Unfortunately I didn't get to see Pats/Bills game so can someone tell me if it was roughing or intent to injure and justified with a 15 Grand Fine?

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -- Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams is questioning why he's been fined $15,000 by the NFL for a roughing the passer penalty against New England's Tom Brady.

Williams revealed on Wednesday that he had been fined for a play that happened in the third quarter of a 52-28 loss to the Patriots on Sunday. Williams was flagged after he was knocked to the turf and his arm caught the back of Brady's leg.

Brady still completed a 19-yard pass to Wes Welker. The penalty gave the Patriots the ball at the Bills 6, and Brady scored two plays later to tie the game at 21.

Williams intends to appeal the fine, questioning what he did wrong when attempting to make a tackle while Brady still had the ball.

Grab QB below the knees is illegal. I did not see "intent to injure" but that's subjective.

brady is a little b*t** only quarterback they have made rules for in this league. tuck rule and hitting below the knees no other quarterback ever in history has specific rules for them. wow u got hit below the knee take it like man u pansy brady

If after watching the second half of that game they center on this to complain about, Bills fans have greater problems than any of us are capable of solving. With that said, by rule, it was clearly deserving of a penalty but after watching the game again last night I didn't detect any visible intent to injure. Just my take.

Bills fans can cry all they want. Next time, maybe Williams will adjust accordingly. He can swipe at the legs without launching the body, or he can launch above the knee.

Considering the way they throw fines arond (for playing football) I suppose it's fair. I don't think he intended to injure, but he knew he was wrong - he pulled back.

If they want to discourage it, fine it.

Pfft that's a slap on the wrist level fine.. who cares. We've all seen some questionable fines recently. If I were a Bills fan I think I would be more concerned with that ridiculously expensive defense and it's inability to stop anyone.

Yeah, had to laugh at the bolded part when i read the OPs post. And JFK was pushed into the back of the VP's seat in the limousine when the bullet grazed him. (ok, ok little over the top but you get the idea)

Fine was fully deserved and the move was COMPLETELY AGAINST THE RULES (sorry Kontra - but dems da facts).

Of course he will appeal - every player appeals. If the fine gets knocked down we never hear about it. (So I think it probably gets cut in half 50% of the time)

Also gotta laugh at all you guys who think you are CARNAC THE MAGNIFICENT and can judge INTENT by watching a videotape. Last I heard intent is either an INTERNAL THOUGHT PROCESS or could be inferred by a DELIBERATE PREPARATION TO DO AN ACT. Not sure how you can determine that in this case.
I am willing to give him benefit of the doubt; but I wont rule intent to injure out. And that still leaves him as playing with RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT because he didn't care what the rules were - he just wanted to get to the QB at all costs. If he is a professional, he knows what the rules are and doesnt do that - he plays under control.

Williams got screwed..its as simple as that

Williams is one tough DL and did not try and harm Brady...he was landing on the play and just at the legs of Brady,but as anyone can see when he dropped Brady he did NOT hang onto his legs.

That is the difference between dirty and not dirty

Now everyone who didn't already think so is going to now think that Brady gets special treatment
