So, what's the O/U on how much Spikes gets fined for his cheap shot on Chandler (who ended up with a concussion, btw)? (At least I hope it's only a fine)

I hate the term 'cheap shot'...he was well in his right to block the guy but he went the wrong way about it. Cheap shots are unneccesary entirely.

He left his feet and made initial contact in the head/neck area so I'd say he'll get the standard $21K for hits such as that.

If he hadn't launched, that would have been such a good hit!

Not a cheap shot.
Will be fined though.
Worth every penny!

I don't like the characterization that it was a cheap shot........ (seems kinda trollish). He probably will get fined, but only for the "leaving his feet" part. He was well within his right to block him, just in the speed of the game, he went about it wrong.

I think in the same way that the dude that hit Brady's knee's will get fined. He did the act, but he was falling and I don't think he was being malicious about it. Still, the fine will come.

I remember lining up as the gunner my senior yr. of H.S. on the left side of the kicking team. I went humming down the field, kicker received the ball and ran to his left, I was on the completely opposite side of the play and already engaged a blocker. I beat the block, turned to my right to keep going after the returner, though I was completely out of the play, I always hustled. Next thing I know, after immediately turning to head up field BAM! I remember just seeing black, and flickering yellow lights like fire flies, swirling every where. I got up and stumbled to the sideline.

I came back into the game about 5 mins. later. It wasn't until later while reviewing the game tape that I saw what happened. Some kid, out weighing me by at least 50 lbs. saw me break the block, headed full steam towards me, and launched right into me. Decleated my ass and sent me to the ground. I watched the play multiple times and blamed no one but myself. I kept my head on a swivel after that.

It's the game of football. Anyone who puts that helmet on knows they are being put at risk of injury every single time they get on the field. In H.S. I did it for fun, these guys do it for millions of dollars. I do not feel sorry for them one bit, and am glad we finally had someone show up on Sunday and make people scared when he was on the field.

Long rant, Im sorry, but just gotta share how I feel about it. He was well within the field of play, and he wasn't defenseless. He just didn't do a good job of keeping his head on a swivel. If the roles were reversed, Im sure Chandler wouldve laid the same lick on Spikes, and I wouldnt have held anything against him for it.

I want to add this bit too. Did anyone else see that play at the beginning of the game where I believe Jackson got tackled by Chandler Jones and Jones appeared to be cranking up on his lower leg? Now that to me is dirty. There are hard hits, whether meant to bring harm or not, then there's kicking, stomping, kneeing, head butting, ankle turning type of things that are dirty and have no place in the game.

Waiting for Wilfork to be fined on the absolute pummeling of that Bills WR that put him dazed into the locker room

Other than the masses involved, that was just like Edelman v. Young last year. :)

Over at NFL Network, someone was suggesting that Jones should have taken a swing at Fitzpatrick in the next huddle for that.

21k,

that was unasked for, you cannot leave your feet and launch into a guy.
chandler was laying with his eyes blank.

got to call even though i like spikes edge, but this is a cheap shot.
this not even a new rule .

Can't believe Ed Reed wasn't fined last week for both shots.

That being said, the ball was still in the air when Spikes hit Chandler.

I think the use of the term "cheapshot" TWICE in your post tells me all I need to know about your motives (as in Angry Bills Fan?) I think he made a very aggressive hit and if it is deemed by the NFL that he hit was not appropriate then they will assess the necessary fine. That's about all you need to know on that topic chief. Next!!!!!!

Huh? It was on the INT return.

Is Jones even still alive? Damn a hit like that could crush some organs.

He's a longtime Pats fan, not a Williams fan

I'm not proud of any aimed head strike, esp one that concusses the recipient
Don't want Pats players to be victims of such. It can be career limiting for the recipient.

I loved Wilfork's hit and Spikes' key hard hitting ball stripping plays.

No way was it a cheap shot!

He probably put too much into it and ended up going to high! Still, #POWWWWWWWWWWW
