It is time to move on. This was a tough loss to get over but it is time to look to the future!!

No need to waste anymore time complaining about the lost opportunities, the refs or the fact that Ron Borges is dirt.

We have the 24th and 28th pick in round 1 of the 2007 draft. We must use our picks to get younger, bigger & faster on defense. If i have learned anything over B.B.'s tenure its that drafting a good 3-4 linebacker is next to impossible. It takes years of teaching. I think we upgrade that position through free agency (see donnie edwards) I see that most draft experts have LaRon Landry going in the top fifteen. This guy looks like he could be a big upgrade in our secondary. A ball-hawking safety is just what we need. Should we put together a package and move up and get him? I'm guessing it would cost us our 24th pick and third round pick to move up the board. I would love to see us use the first two picks on the secondary.
Also, i saw on FSN that felger feels Samual is not worth the $$$. A month ago I felt the same way. That has changed. I hope we make him a competative offer. Letting a young, healthy proven commodity walk would be a mistake.
Lets all look to the future and put Sunday behind us. Free agency, the draft and mini-camp is right around the corner.

BB and SP have always thought that the second half of the first round offered the most value for the player. In theory, we could bundle both #1's and get to 8th, but I bet that if we move at all, its only up a few spots.

Are the 3 guys in the secondary who have speed, very good coverage skills, can support the run, and can tackle.

Obviously those are things the Pats looks at for on the field from their secondary. Off the field they want guys who are smart and football is their first priority. I have no idea about the intangibles.

All three of these guys could be gone before our pick at 24. If BB/SP like one of them a lot I wouldn't be surprised to see them move up.

Patrick Willis is a high intelligence guy and would be well worth a pick as a LB - though I suspect he may be better suited in a 4-3 so if you take a LB Posluszny is the one to go after for NE if you ask me.

LaRon Landry would be highway robbery if he fell to the Pats -- kind of like, oh, uh... Vince Wilfork... Someone has to fall...

I'd prefer to keep the first rounders, maybe move up or down a couple spots. but one person indicated that first rounders get longer contracts than second, so better value at 28 than 33. they've proven they draft great in the first round.

then i'd take the 6-7 per year that some say we should pay to asante and split that to maybe get a bobby engram and london fletcher, upgrading two positions.

right there you have 4 solid contributors, getting younger and hopefully the 2nd rounder will be a potentially good player and the lower draft picks will be developmental and maybe hitting on one. and next year you will see more production out of jackson, maroney, thomas, and mills.

the big question is:

In the Pats system which positions take the longest to get acclimated?

Seems like cornerback or safety might be quicker. I'm thinking defense might be easier, but probably depends on the player and i'm thinking of CJ also.

That depends on where you look. I've seen Revis as high as 11 and as low as 28. So hard to say right now because we don't know who the work out warriors will be at the combine.

McCauley was benched this year. I didn't see him play so it's hard for me to say what he's like but I'm sure Pat Hill will let BB know.

The combine will turn the draft upsidedown, so I know it is way to early. McC was benched this year, however that whole defense had major issues. It may have been a coaching issue over a talent issue. He is a physical prototype for corner. Revis is no slouch either.

it is exciting for me because BB is so pissed right now. I think he will be more determined than before to fill his roster spots with the right guys. He has time to scout and imo will pull off a grat draft.

I like Landry and think he would be a good fit here. However, with multiple holes to fill, especially at CB, S and LB, I think we should keep both first rounders. I wouldn't mind packaging our 2nd and 3rd to move up but not our two 1sts.

Can't do that either. first, three 1st rounders would run into cap trouble down the road. second, to get landry we would need about 1050 points at the 15th pick overall. the 2nd rounder is worth 340 and the 3rd is 88 points. That is not even close to the value of the # 15 pick. #28+#56= 1000. That would be a possibility. Your crazy if you think the 2+3 will get him. the 2+3 would only get the #47 in the second round.
