Heath Evans is never to be Barry Sanders, but god bless him for this little nugget that came from Reiss' assessment of the team's FA situation. This sort of attitude is worth its weight in gold - although it's not a great negotiating tactic from his point of view - and I hope he gets rewarded with a good deal that keeps him here.

Heath Evans -- Fullback became a vital contributor on offense and special teams. He expressed his desire to return, saying: "Fit-wise, it couldn’t be more perfect. I could care less about money. I’m a loyalist. They were good to me at a time the game of football wasn’t."

That rocks.

Evans rocks.

Will always remember when Evans came on board and destroyed Miami. Was a treat to watch.

:rocker:

Yup, when we were discussing new team leaders emerging Heath was a prime suspect with the on-field cheerleading he's always doing.

:rocker:

Between this and the late season captaincy, I'm reading my coffee grounds (I don't drink tea) as meaning Heath is the first domino, followed by my man Graham.

Gotta like that.Have to ask, whats behind the"Ironwasp"?Its cool anyway....

I think evan`s will stay just because as we get more than what we pay for.
We added a FB from the gators in pratice squad very late in the season .... Being younger heath might take more carries splitting with dillon as the power back.We need a downhill back and he is better in blocking too.

Graham is a top TE.... he man handles most OLB and DL sometimes and i like his attitude. But we just signed a 270 lb 6 7 LB for 2007 so they are preparing. We have 1 more TE on IR now.

Wow. First time I've ever been asked that. It's the handle i've used online since I first started using the internet. It's a combination of the two UK teams I support, London Wasps in rugby, which if I'm honest is my first sporting love, and a soccer team called West Ham, one of whose nicknames is the Irons, in honour of their heritage as the London Ironworks football club in the nineteenth century.

What I particularly love about the Heath Evans quote is that it is straight fron the London Wasps coaching manual. THey have built a great team based on picking up the waifs and strays from othe places, so I have a particular affinity for players like Evans and Gaffney who have been thrown on the scrapheap elsewhere but have reemerged as key cogs in the machine of at teams that understand their value.

European rugby is very different from the NFL, but the way in which BB and SP have built the Patriots in the salary cap - which also exists in English rugby - is very similar to the way Wasps have built a champion team in which loyalty and playing for the club is more important - but not inconsistent with - personal gain.

Nice, hope to see you back Heath!

I'm a big fan of Evans. He became HUGE in the blocking scheme as the season progressed (even though our running game decided to dissappear when it mattered.) He's a great team player. He's not nearly as gifted as most other RB/FB's, and he'd likely be cut on most teams, but I"m a big fan of him.

I love the guy, tough as nails. What could of been if Brady would of checked down to him when he was wide open? 25 maybe 35 yard pickup? His place in Patriot lore would of been right there with JR Redmond and Wiggins. Keep this guy,he needs to stay put.

I love Heath Evans! The Little Engine That Could!!! But he does need to improve his blocking and with his work ethic, you know he will. I get the impression, he's one of the more popular players among his teammates. Go Heath!!

Heath was a big RB, too slow to do much in the NFL but he does have some running talent. As a RB in college, he wasn't called on to lead block very much at all. He was more alternate to the RB that made it the NFL. elsewhere.

The Pats picked him up from Miami, And he has beefed up in size and has been learing the arts of lead blocking, blitz pickup, and receiving out of the backfield. I beleive that he is a hard worker and lead blocking is mostly determination and learned skills, unlike running ability which is mostly instinctual.

I have said in other posts, how valuable he is in that role. So I won't repeat it.

I hope that Heath stays and adds hs talent to the awesome Offensive juggernaut that is building in Foxboro.

Heath is a Patriots type player. Hope we keep him. Go Heath. Go Pats:rocker:

After the SD game I saw Woods arm on Heath shoulder....That tells me he is all about team...Good with the younger players....Does anything to help the team....Gotta love Heath and I am sure he will be back for years to come
